People like this just piss me off, if you enjoy anime/manga then thats nice but don't tie it into stuff that it isn't in the first place, i too was in the anime/manga closet but i gave that up long ago all my friends know i do it and they don't care and if someone where to ask me if i do read/watch it then i'd say yes, as long as you don't shove your ideals into others and try to show people what ur all about then it rly don't matta much. Otherwise this girls is just weird and a bad example for all to others of what manga/anime are like, she must be SHUNNED!!!!!!! And she may have had to get alot of guts up to do this but it all comes down to how does it make everyone else look? She didn't think about that and i have to hear crap about it every time another weirdo goes on tv.

omg that was so embarrassing...I wanted to go bury myself in the first 10 sec. There's nothing wrong with enjoying your hobbies and being open about it, but why do you need to make the rest of us look like basket cases?

What`s wrong with you?
She is embarrassment for the anime/manga fans? Is it all fine and well only if she past to the next round?!
The girl stood straight in front of millions of people and gave all she had. If you are not happy go do better! It`s not her faux that otaku isn`t compliment. Ask the thousands over-40-fat-fags watching sailor moon whose faux it is.

PS: Sorry I got a little angry -.- But still don`t like the general response from the anime/manga community

To be frank, most people who are on American Idol or X Factor are an embarrassment to the human race.

I have to give it to her for admitting it in front of millions... but that's just a bit too much for me.

If I were to judge an audition where a talentless person with high self-esteem appeared I think I'd let her pass in order to get crushed in the real contest.

I think the point of the first auditions is to weed out the people who don't make for good television, so they want to leave the crazies and delusional cases 'cause they're fun to watch (in a poke and laugh at sort of way.)

Listen all of you don't need to get so worked up saying why did she have to make the rest of you look bad. Don't delude yourself into thinking you're otakus cause most of you are not. It's very hard to be qualified to be called an otaku and i'll admit its not an achievement either.

She should stick to making kimonos or whatever her real job is. Her singing talent is almost at the point where it could be declared cruel and unusual torture. At least she has tone variation, some of the..... less talented ones 'sing' in just one tone. Kudos to her for coming out on national TV about being an Otaku. I rarely ever admit to reading manga, manwha and watching anime. I admit that I listen to Japanese music whenever I'm asked what I'm listening to.

Well she kinda is an embarresment. I'm sure she's probably embarresed herself right about now. Would things have been better if she sang well and passed? Probably. Sure she wasn't that horrible of a singer, but It really was just the way she acted that was an embarresment. I already know I can't sing worth crap so I don't need to show the world how horrible I am or show the world that I like anime and manga. It's just something I don't shout the world to, y'know?

xD
You don't have to be embarrassed about being an "otaku"...that's lame (IMO). But acting like that (dorky) is too much, hahaha. It was funny, but nothing else.

Most people in this world are otaku.
The term otaku isn't limited to just anime. It's generally accepted as a term for "anime freak", but it can be used for other obsessions as well like let's say...Car otakus - probably the most common type of otaku outside the anime world.
Some people are just crazy for cars! *coughsagacough*
Everyone's gotta be overly obsessed with something at some point of their lives.
Sure, it may not look good on YOUR perspective, but hey, your opinion.

You CAN be an otaku and have a life...a great life.
I mean, look at Danny Choo.
He's an otaku, and proud of it - but he has a kickass job as a CEO!
So no, I don't think there's anything wrong with being an otaku. It just depends on how the person uses it to benefit his life, that's all :\

BACK ON TOPIC!

Hmm...that was entertaining >_>
Didn't really LOL though...but the bit where she says "singing is my life!" was pretty funny considering that she's claiming to be an anime otaku.

Wow...really? She obviously doesn't understand the word otaku actually meant and her drawings aren't the best I've seen. But then she...sang? She did something. It was bad. It wasn't fun to watch. Her personality kind of made it worse.

Well, that's my opinion bigrazz

Yes, my parents, who know absolutely NOTHING about manga/anime, except that i like those, saw it.

Imagine now their faces when they saw it. (>_>) ...and me trying to explain that reading manga and watching anime is actually considered NORMAL. And that ppl who do so ARE normal.

*sigh* and... ehm... *siiiigh*
