First of all, I've read Highschool of the Dead, Bio Meat, El El, and Parasyte. I've been suggested Eden, The Drifting Classroom, Dragon Head, Kurozuka, Gyo and Uzumaki. Basically I want a list of manga with zombies (e.g. HotD), or generally survival horror (e.g. Biomeat, El El), or something like Parasyte; and comments on the ones I've already been suggested. Thanks.

The closest I can think of is xxxHolic.
There's creepy 'spirits' and such throughout, and later on in the manga (I think they're telling ghost stories, from memory), things appear that could be zombies?
But I'm not sure if this is what you're looking for, it's not really survival horror...
Also, InuYasha features demons and spirits, but again I'm not sure if they're what you're after...
Sorry, hope these are okay!
EDIT: Oooh, and maybe Death Note, it's kind of survival horror (one of the main characters murders people all the time, and there are lots of demons?) And along similar lines is Hell Girl.

Even if not exactly what you asked, I'll give a try to Elfen Lied since imho is the one with the solidest plot for this genre. Also some arcs for Higurashi no Naku Koro ni fit, but I prefer the anime for that.
For not zombies but sruvival horror I'd say Battle Royale, but if you can read the book, stick with the book instead of the manga.
Kurozuka is a good manga, but I'd not call it a survival manga nor a manga with zombies.

Try Metro Survive. It's from the same mangaka as El El and Bio Meat Nectar.

Dawn Tsumetai Te for zombies, maybe? And I think Kanojo wo Mamoru 51 no Houhou is supposed to be a survival-type manga, though I haven't read it myself.

I've already read Battle Royale, and plan to read Elfen Lied. Kurozuka is more of an action and mindrape series though isn't it? I've seen the anime. I've read Death Note, and I simply can't read xxxHolic (I despise CLAMP) or InuYasha (too 'shoujo' for me), but thanks.

I'm not too big on Shoujo, but a couple of those Josei series, like 7Seeds and Dawn seem pretty decent. I'll have to definitely check out Cage of Eden, 'cause that seems a lot like what I'm looking for, though the Shounen tag probably means it's shallower than what I've already read. And I'll have a look at Kanojo wo Mamoru 51 no Houhou, Ibara no Ou and Metro Survive. Some good recommendations, keep 'em coming.

Just in case you needed some extra persuasion, Dawn - Tsumetai Te is really good imo. It's seems sorta light at the very beginning, but it very quickly turns dark, moody, and tragic.

Dark Edge, Here's the link: http://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=2116
Also is there a topic that tells me how to use the BBCode somewhere on the forums? Thanks in advance.

Kurosagi Corpse Delivery Service, and Mail as well (both drawn by the same artist).

Some additions: maybe also Variante and Alive.
Narutaru is twisted enough once you go beyond the first few chapters, and Higanjima is extremely dark and twisted.
You might also want to try some works by ITOU Junji since some of them tend to have the zombie/survival themes and his horrors are quite good.

Hmm, I plan to read Narutaru, but I'm not quite sure whether it fits the survival horror genre, but thanks anyway.

I've realised I'd forgotten about another obscure manga that I've half-read, Manhole, a very mature biological horror. While we're on it, any suggestions to cover this as well?

Hmm, and maybe something to do with 'possession', or 'conversion', you know, like the main group of characters are unsure who to trust, sorta thing, because there's the possibility someone's been possessed and is working against them, seems like a pretty common storyline but nothing actually comes to mind for me.

Then try Doubt (TONOGAI Yoshiki). It's about a group of people with one killer among them.

Narutaru turns into a fight for survival and gets really bloody and cruel (especially since the main characters are children), be aware of that.
Another one would be Alive!.
This is not the same as skat mentioned. Very dark, fits your latest specifications, one volume.
