Been reading a bit of phycological and/or historic manga and now I need a break

I was reading those because I had never tried and I found enough series to entertain me.
but I've been looking for something a little lighter but still entertaining and have really only read updates for the past few weeks

some of the lighter series I enjoyed reading updates of are Zero In, and Change 123 and my current fav The Breaker

also like Kekkaishi , Hayate the butler, Overdrive, Zippy Ziggy

so anything to recommend? I kinda need it

NOTE: no gender bender, or shojo

also although some of the ones are labeled shounen I prefer titles that are kinda between shounen and Seinen (so no bleach/naruto/once piece)

any recommendation is appreciated

It would help if you made your lists public, otherwise we have no idea what you have and haven't read. The series you've listed seem to be action-oriented shounen with varying degrees of humor but then you say not like Naruto/Bleach/One Piece all of which fit that mold. Oh well, see if any of these fit what you're looking for:
Ares
Ai Kora
Beelzebub
Ga-rei
Monk!
Rappi Rangai
Sekirei

Breaker is totally awesome lol, but um if u like breaker you mite also like "Holyland" though it is not as good as Breaker for me.

Also would recommend

2) Ubel Blatt---bear with it for the first couple of chapters after which it bekumz really good
3) Xblade
4) Break Blade
5) Tiji-Kun!
6) Id
7) Gantz--u mite not like protagonist at first but bear with him cus he turns badass afta some time--like maybe 50 chapters...

Looks like my plea was answered

@Shade

I've read so much that creating a list of all that I read would take hours, but I will start to add to my reading list and make it public. Ares is a personal fav but because I usually wait awhile for chapters to pile up I haven't read it in a while. Beezebub is something I found a few weeks back and I've enjoyed it more that I thought I would, if it keeps going like it is and not be repetitive it might be a fav of mine soon. I'm waiting for updates for Ai kora, and ga-rei. Sekirei is one that I read a few years back and I never bothered to update, how good does it get after chapter 68confusedand there doesn't seem to be any updates for monk...I was enjoying it 2.

I've made my list public and I'm adding all the series I remember now so hopefully that will help (eventually)

thanks for suggestions I havent read Rappi Rangai and looks like I'll enjoy it. (enough chapters for me to spend a few hours on)

@John

Now that I've checked it out Holyland seems pretty good (its long 2 and that helps). My guess is I judged it when I saw it listed as a "Drama". Some of my favs are listed under drama but because its such a broad categorization I've found some overly dramatic series and started to ignore Drama (unless recommended).

Until Death Do Us Part - same as Holyland ( Drama killed interest but now that its recommended I'll read)

Thats the exact problem I had with Ubel Blatt. Weak beginning but promising, I was reading Angyo Onshi and kinda got distracted (Onshi is a perfect example of a series categorized as a Drama that I love) - I'll be reading this 2

Never read a good mecha manga is Break Blade good?

Been reading Tiji-Kun! but the lack of chapters means I'll be waiting a long time before I update myself.

ID - Can't find it listed but if its what I think it is then I enjoyed it.(romance with eventual model/star)

Gantz is one of my fav series. The protagonist really annoyed me for a while but eventually he did turn badass (anything like this would be good 2)

@weronique

ping - Can't believe I missed this, looks really promising.

I've read and enjoyed immortal regis and then cavalier of the abyss

Defence Devil - Added to Wish list

Kurogane no Linebarrel - Never enjoyed a mecha manga, u think this would be good? (only tried one manga and love mecha anime)

Tokage - Don't like gender bender but is it a guy possessed with a girl? (as opposed 2 a total switch that I don't usually like) desipite it being gender bender it seems pretty interesting.

Wolf Guy - Being mature/seinen seems to eliminate the usual problem of fantasy creature drama in shonen and shojo so I'll give this a read (and it has enough volumes to keep me reading)

Goth/Alive! - psychological/mystery or mature /horror + recommended = must read

XBlade - Enjoyed but the slow updates have killed my interest

Bloody Monday - Read first few chapters and bearable but the shounen aspect is deserved and kills some of the depth, but at the same time I like how its also about school life. So how good does it get? because I'm only 20 chapter in

@Solovolk -

Bakuman- I keep thinking the T.V. show

Vagabond - Amazing manga categorized as an "epic" (very exclusive group)

Sidooh - seems good but how does it compare 2 Vagabond?

Kongo banchou - Unless you highly recommend it I doubt I would read it

Lost+Brain - Seems interesting as phycological/mystery has always been enjoyable

Akumetsu - Reading it as a backup for when I don't have anything (so chapter by chapter until it gets exciting) - only a few chapters in so I don't know if you sarcastic about it being serous

Wolf Guy - Same answer as b4 but 2 recommendations help it move up in priority -"Being mature/seinen seems to eliminate the usual problem of fantasy creature drama in shonen and shojo so I'll give this a read (and it has enough volumes to keep me reading)"

Zetman - I'm a few chapters in and can't understand why its considered to be an "epic"

Flags - would you highly recommend it? because the description makes sound like a typical shounen that I try to avoid

Ao no Futsumashi - ONly problem seems 2 be the small amount of chapters released

Gamaran - Same problem as Flags with "Gama's battle to become the strongest of all . . . "
but it being a comedy/martial arts could easily overcome that wit good writing so is it highly recommended?

thanks for all the suggestions

@revilenigma

Both Jormungand and Dorohedoro seem like series I'll enjoy. I had Dorohedoro on my wish list must seems I lost track of it

and I'll keep reading (I was just wondering "is this it?" but if its going 2 get better then I'll keep reading)

thanks for the suggestions, both are long and seem interesting from their description

Although Tokage is a gender bender (ok...u can say it is...) but I kinda never thought about it in that way, cuz there's no romance so it isn't like those classical gender-bender shojo manga (since it isn't shojo) so I like it. Normally I don't enjoy gender bender manga, but it's strange that this one doesn't give u the "gender bender" feeling.

And about Kurogane no Linebarrel... to be honest, I, too,don't really like mecha and this is the only one I'm reading and I like it (u can see my lists, and this is really the only one mecha in all of them smile ) Hmm... what I don't like about mecha is that usually it's set into the future and everything is blah blah...(Actually, I really like fantasy...supernatural stuff, but not "maybe in the future" stuff) but I like the characters in this manga, so that's the reason I read it. I don't find it as ur classical mecha... And I like it when u can see the development of the main character in the manga.

And Bloody Monday... if u didn't like first chapters, don't read it biggrinDD It'd be a waste of ur time.

Maybe u can try (maybe u've already read it) Kurozuka, Aflame Inferno, Zero, now I read for example Gunslinger Girl

ID isn't about romance though there is a little bit of it, its an action manga with a ridiculously overpowered main character. I liked it cus i was getting sick of protagonists starting out weak. Search it under this "greatest fusion fantasy", I don't think you will like it dat much because he is ridicilously overpowered. Totally suggest that you read Ubel Blatt cus afta a while, as more of his past gets revealved it gets better and his past is pretty sad. Moreover there is truly no good versus evil here since the dude is just doing it for revenge. For me its a great manga.

Break Blade is really just getting started. The hero is against violence but then typically he has to resort to it to defend country kinda like "Gundam Seed". At the moment its ok. Try it and see,

Ok so I start this Statment off by saying I hope your talking about Yureka(ID_entity...we change the name back to is orginal name since tokyopop drop it...not cool) and if not sorry for talking out of place!

Now on to the real issue Lotto(Rotto) kinda does start of over powerd but if you think about it 1.he's the main character 2.He's a master rank Magican with master rank Swordmanship 3. pretty much the first few chapters he be challenge by alot of noobs(lol) so that kinda makes him seem over powered but still powerful none the less biggrin ...but when you hit the actual turning point you'll start to think he's geting weaker (we {lovers of the manhwa} where saying that he might be getting because he was loosing a lot of fights but we came to a conclusion that since their average fight have become more master rank enimes he actualy getting a challge for his skill at the game) so very long story short he sorta evens out...
As far as romance goes I haven't realy seen any but Lotto trying to pick up an npc who like some else (lol?) and the usual "girl he teased (if you wanna call it that) in fight who might subconsciously have a crush on him x2 (well if you don't count that 1 on the girls is a mod who can change her class at will {power to the mods!!!}),and
Spoiler (highlight to view)
the assassin confesses her love for him XD...now it gets really spicy
but other than that I would say there no romance and those events but the spoiler are barely noticeable.

But overall it's a must read in my book...sory for the long read but im a sucker for fantasy and i loved it because the manhwa is at the point where i wish games where now!!!!!!!!!1 <--- sorry that was the only wasy for me to fully convey my feelings toward this manhwa

And Übel Blatt really is also a great read..tho it takes time for you to understand his past but i think its woth the w8 but....then agin the chapter are so slow you'd think it was droped (thank god for Noblesse Oblige for speard up some releases) and a sorta similar manga to gantz would be Cannon God Exaxxion Once again for the very very long read biggrin

@asomekastt

Nah i was talking about Id-greatest fusion fantasy. I haven't read yureka but gonna start on dat now, since i have read the summary and it lookz interesting. Thankz for the recommendation even though it was unintentional. I also agree with you about Ubel Blatt. It is a really good manga. His past is quite sad and interesting and the whole plot with its fight scenes is so damn good. Updates are quite slow unfortunately.

@weronique

sounds like you have the same perception as I do on gender bender. The series does sound interesting and I'll be reading it. I really just wanted to know if it was typical shojo with a bit darker theme

Kurogane no Linebarrel - again same interest on the type of manga and your description of it sounds promising (good characters setting not annoying like with most mecha manga)

have you tried Red Eyes? - other mecha manga I've been heard was good and was interested in

Ya I enjoyed Bloody Monday for streaks but my overall experience was to force myself to read - unless I'm desperate I'll prob keep avoiding it

"Kurozuka, Aflame Inferno, Zero, now I read for example Gunslinger Girl"

I enjoyed Aflame Inferno

Started Kurozuka but the site I used crashed - so lost a bit of incentive (is it good?)

Zero - I think I saw it listed as complete and avoided it but I'll try

Gunslinger girl- allways had the impression that the anime was better (never saw/read either but kinda got that from a few people)

@John Aso mekast

I got a intresting series with "Yureka" so thanks

from the description It sounds interesting, I love shounen with good humor and interesting story. The gaming aspect of it helps in terms of relatability and gives a setting that the author can create any situation he wants

the strong-weak-strong format something I haven't seen executed properly but If its how u said it then its fine

lack of romance is fine if its funny

and a good rating always helps

np about the length and I have recommitted to read Ubel Blatt

and I still havent found the Id-greatest fusion fantasy on mangaupdates..... but its kinda a win-win. I found Yureka and I might still find Id-greatest fusion fantasy

@ VnManga

Veritas - I just found this a few weeks ago and never stopped reading. Now I'm waiting for updates. Sad thing is another series that I didn't like the begining because it was typical shounen but i stuck with it and I'm happy I did.

anything like Veritas would be amazing 2

thanks
