Shura no Mon, fighting in it is really bad ass, but there haven't been any releases for a few years.

1. Those who Hunt Elves - This manga's hilarious (of which the anime paled in comparison) and i just loved it. Bought 7 vols happily as they came out by ADV and then....it went to the dreaded 'ADV graveyard', the sad fate of many (though ADV continues doing Cromartie, so I give them points for that XD). I believe scanlations only were done through the first chap or two... And i believe it totals 15 vols.

2. Narutaru (Shadow Star) - Dark Horse did a good job, for the most part, on this rather troublesome seinen series that dares to continually define 'can things possibly get any worse' XD after 7 vols (or perhaps it was 8), and annoyingly ending up exactly where...the anime ultimately did (for the most part), it also was neither officially dropped, but poking in some forums it seems that a Dark Horse higher up told a conventioneer that DH had *no* further plans to continue the series, since it only gets worse (even though the next 2ish vols had already released in their R.I.P. anthology super manga blast). I know that the scanlators of bokurano, mangaka's latest series, said they wouldn't scanlate it since they would have to start at the beginning, but....still holding out, with some hope... and yes, i bought all DH ones, though not SMB

3. Ayatsuri Sakon - To be honest, I'm surprised this series *hasn't* been completed yet, considering that the artist is the wildly popular artist Obata behind Hikaru no Go, Deathnote, and now Blue Dragon. Alas, being only 4 vols, with 2 and a half scanlated, the series is about murder mysteries that are quite interesting.

4. ... anything besides Kodocha from Mio Obana. I love this mangaka, and it's truly a shame that kodocha's her only licensed one, but I think all her scanlated series are incomplete, like andante and partner

5. Music of Marie - The scope of this manga, and the art, is just amazing XD I think it only has 1 volume to go, but Kotonoha hasn't released in over half a year, so not sure what the status of it is...

Honorable Mention - Mirage of Blaze - Yeah, this one's shounen-ai, but i really liked the 3 chaps that were scanlated, and would like to see more....

At the moment

Fire Candy - Snoopycool were scanlating this but it seems to be inactive. A bloody good, SF manga that deals with a skategang of teenagers with half man/ half beast DNA. They're like society's outcasts, but just don't care.

Imouto Wa Shishunki - This is a 4-panel comic strip like the ones you see in a newspaper. It is a comedy using perverted themes. It deals with a brother and a sister going through puberty. And wow, is she curious.

Dangu - A badass manwha. The artwork and story are incredible and just when the story is finally picking up, the scanlators decided to drop it.

Vampire Master Dark Crimson - A lowgrade ecchi manga about Vampires. I just like the story and a few of the characters, so I want to keep on reading. It is inactive because the scanlators didn't want to spend money to buy a new tankoubon.

I can't think of a last one. It would be nice to see Samurai deeper kyo being scanlated faster though. But I guess scanlators have lifes too.

edit:
To complete that list, the fifth title that scanlators should pick up (again) is Sen to Chihiro Kamikakushi. Yes the Miyazaki classic. It has stunning artwork and ofcourse a great story. Scanlations by Manga-koekje were halted because they couldn't obtain raws.

mrsatan. Fire Candy has not yet been completed. There are 2 volumes in total, but the scanlations still have a few more chapters to do.

Here's mine:

1. Spriggan - I heard some groups like Anime Waves tried their luck with it before dropping it. Now an English translation is being done by Chuang Yi, but they won't apparently translate the First Mission and Gold Rush stories. Really putting it on my hope to read this manga. Hope someone does the one shot stories at least of FM and GR.

2. Kamen Rider Spirits - I like the Classic Riders, 'nuff said.

3. D-Live!! - Genesis is doing a good job here. I'm hoping they'll still keep this up! ^_^

4. Black Lagoon - Rei Hiroe-sama's the man of the hour!!! Kick ass action and guns too!

5. Tsumi ni Nureta Futari - I love the story! I have to admit this is the first shojo manga that peaked my interest. However....
Spoiler (highlight to view)
This has some themes of incest between older sister and younger brother with the occassional sex.

For the ones I want to be scanlated in the near future (I have a feeling I'm asking too much)

1. Sukeban Deka - Juvenile-turned cop with yoyo is an interesting premise for a police-style manga

2. Golgo 13 - The sniper assassin happens to be my man in taking out the target! Target eliminated!

3. Strider Hiryu - Played the game before and I loved Hiryu. Though Hien's cool too (For a bishounen)

4. Teacher's Pet - Heard Miki Aihara's going to do Volume 2 soon. Liked the student-teacher theme too...

That seems it though for now.

Most of the stuff written by Ai Morinaga meets a dead end when it comes to translations, be it licensed or fan translations mad Unfortunately for me, I happen to read and like what she write sad

Yamada Taro - Simply love this manga! Hopefully in the future it will be getting updated more regularly.

Duck Prince (Ahiru no Oujisama) - I remember someone started scanlating this title ages ago, but then CMP licensed it, translated 3 volumes, promised to release the 4th one and left the promise unfulfilled cry cry cry

Your and My Secret - another one in the category "hang in there", although looks like someone did pick this one up again smile

Gunslinger Girl! Licensed by ADV, but dead in the water at vol 3 for more than two years. You can't even by vol 2 and 3 from ADV anymore, since they didn't reprint. Manga's currently in vol 8, the licensed French trans is in vol 7 (anybody got scans of this?).

PositioN While we YKK junkies are waiting for the mangaka to decide what to do next, PositioN was last translated some time early in 2006.

If you didn't notice, Gunslinger Girl has already been revived.

You know, that one remark significantly increased my manga happiness level...even though the manga in question is a real downer. I guess it'd be the wrong place to suggest something on the "my manga" list display that shows the current release number on manga in your list. I had assumed that since ADV's lawyers were prowling nobody'd be scanslating it, so didn't check the entry here.
