Well, what do you expect? Satou Shouji is a hentai artist.

I don't mind, I doesn't take away from the story.

I was just referring to ecchi in general, but I still stand by my views.

Well, it was in the High School of the Dead Forum. You see how I could get confused with that. laugh

So, in the general sense, I think that ecchi adds humor to an otherwise humorless storyline. I mean, Love Hina was hilarious, and its humor was nothing more than ecchi. I guess it really just comes down to someone's personal beliefs.

I just think that the women "sizes" are not very practical in a zombie story.

They might have trouble running and jumping while being chased by the zombies, and they have more space to be bitten.

I think the ecchiness is just fine, and I don't think it ruins the story, instead I think it adds to the story (sometimes). If the world is coming to an end, people would obviously try to enjoy the last moments of their lives...if you know what I mean.

Also, the ecchiness relieves some of the tension in the story from time to time, and it doesn't overdo it, which is quite nice.

i think it hurts it a little actually...... I don't like it when ecchiness invades upon action scenes and ecchiness in general can ruin the mood of any should-be-serious scene in manga.

But then again im a girl so im not exactly one of the "target audience" created by ecchi

It just feels a little... impractical...
If you die by one bite, why are they not wearing pants?
My first reaction in that situation would be to get some decent protection.
It wouldn't have to take away the sexappeal either, a girl can look good in trousers to...

I stand by my first post in this thread, I don't mind the ecchi.
The series is done by a group who normally does H-manga, so asking them to lower the ecchi level is like asking someone to stop breathing - It's possible...but difficult, so why do it? :\

That is basically the way I think it isnt necessary at all. Mostly it is seems that the mangaka just wanted to ruin the story I mean when they had the bath it was someone alright but while the story goes forward it gets worst.

from the very beginning it makes it apparent it's an eechi series, yet still remains interesting even without the eye candy.

the clothing does seem a bit impractical tho...........

Could easily be toned down on the ecchi and would still be a great story. Many a page I have read going "dang it why must they shove more fan service out there I'm trying to read the story." Seriously its not needed and the proportions are way beyond normal. I can understand where some of it comes from but it thrown in a few places its probably really not needed. Seriously did we have to see them bathe? That was entirely unnecessary.

Well the series isn't completely on the serious side of the zombie/horror genre so the ecchi mainly keeps things from getting too dark and gruesome. It lightens things up. I admit that it sometimes goes a little bit(ok, maybe a lot) overboard but overall it makes the series a bit more unique.

If/when one of the girls get bitten, its most likely gonna be on their breasts. The bigger they are, the more fanservice that can be squeezed from it. That's why it doesn't matter if they where pants or not since the zombies are gonna go straight to the breasts. -_-

its a good story (the ecchi is like the frosting on a cake; you can have a cake with out it but its better with the frosting)

the ecchiness certainly doesnt help it but it doesnt hurt the series, i doubt anyone with high expectations... i mean someone who is... whats the word... affluent? with manga would jump into a zombie series.

i enjoy zombie movies like the original night of the dead and even that had a moment of nudity.

the parodies like shaun of the dead or the obvious hellsing parody are great.

however i would say that the ecchiness and the parodies hurt the seriousness the manga sometimes has. its hard to piece together how grim everything is when there's nudity and jokes everywhere.

more often then not i find the serious parts of the manga to be an inappropriate fit with its jokes.

while i am what alot of people who posted this topic as the target audience for ecchi being a dude and all, i can understand where they are coming from since a good story can be totally ruined by unnecessary fan service but realli it doesnt distract the reader completely from the plot and storyline. sure it would have been nice if the fan service hadnt happened at that point since it sorta detracts from the whole atmosphere of the scene but as other posters have pointed out the creators are hentai creators so u gotta expect that, besides just be glad as hentai creators they didnt go that extra bit more and have the zombies do unrepeatable actions which can raise the maturity rating
