to Dr. Love & kitty 1826x:
Ok, I have deleted Couple/s already, since it's redundant with the romance genre as well as yaoi, shoujo ai, smut, etc. (I guess one could argue that it would be okay if it were used to indicate a couple as important characters in a non-romance manga, but I don't think there are that many occurrences of that. Also, all of the entries under that category were marked with genres that would obviously involve couples.)

As for Couple Growth, I think I'm going to leave it. I think a lot of romances naturally involve a relationship growing, but surely there are romances where couple never grows or changes, like kitty1826x said, or where the couple's relationship devolves instead and never recovers, etc.

to NightSwan:
Certainly the manga on the list are aimed at adults and have sexual content, but hentai on this website is defined strictly as "Adult sexual content in an illustrated form where the FOCUS of the manga is placed on sexually graphic acts." So the question is whether each of those manga on the list have explicit intercourse scenes as their focus (hentai), or whether it falls a bit short of that (borderline H)--which I wasn't able to tell just from the description or from the magazine (here, because the definition is strict, hentai is assigned based on content rather than as a magazine-determined demographic).

My qualm was more with Couple Growth than Couple/s. The latter is a more interesting tag. The tag is not equivalent to romance because most romance manga are two people evolving towards becoming a couple. Essentially becoming a couple is the endgame and then the manga is over. Check the tag. Romance manga that actually revolve around a couple are 1 in 10,000. What I want is a tag for manga, for example Couple/s, that starts with a couple or at least where the MCs relatively early become a couple.

You're right that there are different kind of couple dynamics. Couple Growth, Couple Stagnation, Couple Status-Quo, Couple Deterioration and so on... Might as well put all of them under one catch-all category named Couple/s. Way more efficient.

Examples are Haru no Houtai Shoujo (which was tagged as Couple/s but now added Couple Growth to it) & Natsu no Zenjitsu

You could just rename Couple Growth to Couple/s, my two cents.

Mind if I ask what happened to the 'Glasses' tag? I know a lot of people liked to use it, and it would be sad if it was permanently gone.

So it is! Well, that definitely puts a dent on people's searches. : o

Meganekko still exists though. If it really has been deleted wouldn't that mean one for Megane is needed as well? I recall there being one some time ago.

It's possible that someone (Admin) thought just using the Bespectacled Protagonist/Uke/Seme Tag was enough ...
Although not sure why glasses got deleted now ... Also possible it was a mistake.

I would like to understand the tag Realistic Homosexual Relationship/s.

It bothers me a little to have this tag, because it is like saying "see, these are the only mangas who try to portrait the ""real"" homossexuality", as if there was a relationship model to set "real" and "fiction" in manga. For example, Rutta to Kodama, Seven Days and tons of other yaoi also are pretty "realistic" for me, since all of them have two people falling in love and what happens to them (no one is an alien, a monster... that could be consider "fiction" in the "real world"). I don't understand why this tag exists then, what makes these mangas more "realistic" than the "normal realistic" in the others? The angst? Problems with society? Just because the manga doesn't portrait society's prejudice it doesn't mean it is "less realistic". Honey & Honey doesn't portrait the "onee-sama in high school" story, but that doesn't mean the onee-sama story is less realistic (it can also happen in real life, girls falling in love in a all-girls school...).

Maybe I'm just being annoying, but this tag is like separating what is "real homossexual relationship" from "what is not real". I understand when people ask for more "realistic yaoi", like, where women aren't crazy bitches or where "everyone is gay", but having a tag about it bothers me because I don't find it useful, because what I can consider "realistic" can't be realistic for others... (for example, I don't find Mousou Elektel realistic, it just like any other average high school yaoi or like in this topic where scarletrhodelia says "I'm going to suggest some stories in which the relationship progresses more slowly, such as in Arashi no Ato. Whether this is more 'realistic', I don't know.")

Anyway, maybe it really is more useful for those who don't like to read PWP where the one says "I love you" and they have sex, but I don't get why most of other yaoi mangas aren't there (like Sorenari ni Shinken nandesu. deals with adoption and prejudice...).

Sorry for being so inconvinient! I just want to talk about this tag and what I think about it. haha

I was wondering where the "Harlequin" tag went? There were a lot in that category and they all suddenly disappeared.

Also, a wrong tag for Ouran Koukou Host Bu- Twincest with (8,18) votes.

Once again a category has disappeared. This time it's the "Happy Sex" tag (e.g. Itoshi no Kana). I get the feeling that a lot of well-supported tags keep disappearing of late. Does anyone know the reason for this phenomenon?

Is that really true? To be honest, I have not read many romance manga, but isn't there a large fraction of romances where the love interests start going out/start considering themselves to be in a relationship towards the beginning or middle?

It would be compact for sure, but I don't think it conveys the information well enough. Having separate tags for what happens to the relationship would help people find what they're looking for much more easily than just a Couple/s tag, which only tells you that there is a relationship (for example, people looking for a manga where the relationship grows probably aren't looking for one where it falls apart--with just "Couple/s," it doesn't tell which is which).

I don't know what happened to the Glasses tag... That's a really big tag to get deleted; I think it had over 1500 series under it. Speaking of which, did the Meganekko tag always have so many entries (1691)? I haven't been watching Meganekko's numbers recently, so I really don't know (couldn't find a page of the right recency with Google cache or with Wayback Machine), but possibly, were they merged? If so, then it's not too bad, we'd still have a list of all of them, they just need to be sorted.

To be honest, I wasn't especially happy with the Glasses tag, as we do already have other (and better) glasses-related categories (although, I think they could use some sorting). Even so, the series under the Glasses category would need to be sorted and merged, rather than the whole list being deleted.

I'm going to leave the tag as is. Really, I'm not the person to ask, but my understanding is that it is a useful tag because, as BL (the most popular genre featuring homosexual relationships) is aimed at heterosexual women, it apparently most often portrays characters and relationships that are purposefully very unrealistic (extremely feminine men, etc.) in order to better suit their target audience. So a manga that portrays characters and relationships closer to how they would actually be in real life is unusual, and the tag serves to distinguish those manga from the ones that are clearly idealized toward the main target audience.

I don't know what happened to it. It isn't hard to find them, though: almost every single one of Harlequinsha's and most of Oozora Shuppan's manga are based on English Harlequin romance novels (and as far as I know, those are the only two manga publishers who print them). Personally, I thought the tag was okay because it marked a very specific kind of romance manga, and not all of Oozora Shuppan's works are Harlequin, but I can see the reasoning for deleting it.

I don't know what happened to that one, either. I don't like confrontation, but I will try to find and talk with whoever is deleting well-liked categories.

That's true, but I usually used the tag to sort by rating which isn't an available option if you click on a publisher's page. It seems that someone has re-added the tag now, so I'll just add manga to it.

On another note, there are tags for amnesia and memory loss which are basically the same thing.

I think these should be merge

Androgynous Character/s, Androgynous Protagonist
Blind Character/s, Blind Protagonist
Businessman, Businessmen
Child/ren, Children
German, German/s
Tribe/s, Tribes
Unicorn, Unicorn/s

and these erased
Big Breasts Oral One-shot Incest
Children's Docter (or at least spelled correctly)

I don't think these should merge. Blind Character/s can refer to any character being blind, not necessarily the protagonist--same goes for Androgynous Character/s and Androgynous Protagonist.

Well, it seems to me that after I've done a bit of research, most of the "glasses" tag fall into "meganekko" tags.. It's really bugging me & we all know that megane is not even meganekko.. Sigh~
I missed the good 'ol days when baka updates is not in jeopardy..

You are right that they're not quite the same, but I think that tags like "___ Character" should in general be avoided in order to keep things focused on main characters (for example, Androgynous Character could be any character in the manga, not necessarily an important character. And I'd like to avoid the tag being assigned to an unimportant character, because that wouldn't be a very relevant tag.) So I usually prefer that things be limited to "___ (Fe)Male Lead" or "___ Protagonist."

to hiei luke:
Yeah... the Meganekko category should be sorted. There are some other glasses-related categories too, and I'm thinking that while I'm at it, I'd like to sort them all into Bespectacled Female Lead and Bespectacled Male Lead. I've just been putting it off due to the sheer number of series under those tags that would need to be manually sorted.

I found some hardly used categories which could be easily merged with the other, more popular tags:

Loyal to Love Interest and Faithful Protagonist would go well with the Loyalty tag.

Oblivious Protagonist and Clueless Protagonist are basically the same, which also applies to
- Slacker Protagonist/ Lazy Protagonist
- Rapist Protagonist/ Rape

- Noticing Things Other Humans Don't/ Seeing Things Other Humans Can't
- Chased/ Hunted Protagonist

Though maybe the minor tags could be deleted alltogether depending on how important they really are for the tagged series.

I also think Emotionless Protagonist and Impassive Protagonist should be merged but since they are both well supported, the choice might be debatable.
