How about a "Do not get attached to characters" tag? For those mangas where there's only ONE safe character (the main character) exist. In other words there's no permanent side characters.

To Tripitaka:
Sorry for the really late reply; I did most of these in early April, but I put off typing up the summary. :/

-I renamed Faithful Protagonist and Loyal to Love Interest to Protagonist Loyal to Love Interest. (I thought maybe Faithful Protagonist might not mean the romantic sense, but all the series listed seemed to be romantic faithfulness, so I merged them.)
-I'm going to leave the Loyalty category alone. To my understanding, that category is meant to be used when loyalty is an important theme in a manga, rather than just a character attribute.
-I'm leaving Oblivious Protagonist and Clueless Protagonist alone. A clueless person is not only unaware of external matters but also internally stupid, whereas an oblivious person might actually be intelligent despite being unobservant. In other words, a clueless person is always oblivious, but an oblivious person is not always clueless.
-I merged Slacker Protagonist into Lazy Protagonist.
-I'm going to leave Rapist Protagonist and Rape alone. One describes an attribute of the main character, while the other describes an event; they will not necessarily both occur in the same manga. I'm tempted to delete Rapist Protagonist (because it has very few entries), but I'd wager that there are a lot of dirty manga where the protagonist is a rapist, but they just haven't been tagged yet.
-I merged Impassive Protagonist into Emotionless Protagonist. As far as I know, impassive and emotionless are complete synonyms, so I think it's fine to combine them.
-I renamed Noticing Things Other Humans Don't to Observant Protagonist. I think it's different from Seeing Things Other Humans Can't, since that usually refers to seeing spirits, etc., that other people are literally unable to see (i.e., special powers). Noticing Things Other Humans Don't is more like seeing things that technically are already visible to everyone (this was the case for the two series under the tag--nobody had any special powers, just observant).
-I merged Chased with Hunted Protagonist.

Despite being a spoiler, I think a tag for that situation is fine, except that it needs a better name. You have a knack for thinking of hard-to-name categories, lol. "Only Protagonist Survives" describes the situation concisely, but being so specific makes it such a bad spoiler that I wouldn't use it... So, I'm thinking "Many Character Deaths" might be the best fit. It's short, vague enough that it isn't too bad of a spoiler, and has a little flexibility. If created, the already existing "Character Deaths" tag should probably be limited to manga where only a small number of characters die, to avoid being redundant.

Thanks for taking care of all these tags.
I've got another suggestion: The Meganekko tag seems to be used wrongly - as far as I know the term only applies to female characters - so it would be better to combine it with its male equivalent, Meganedanshi, to avoid further misuse. Then you could also merge the redundant Glasses and Megane/s tags into the joint category.

I'm aware of the issue, and I'm slowly working through them. Your solution (combining them all into one category) would be a lot easier, but I think it's best to have male and female versions, since I think that most people using this sort of tag do care about that.

The plan is to rename Meganekko, Meganedanshi, Megane/s, Bespectacled Protagonist, Bespectacled Seme, Bespectacled Uke, and Glasses into Glasses-Wearing Male Lead or Glasses-Wearing Female Lead where applicable (or delete if not referring to a main character). It's just going to take a while before I can finish.

Heh, I guess I do have a knack for picking out hard things to name.
After thinking about possible names for this tag ... how about "dispensable characters" , "detachable characters", or "severable characters"?

(Wow it took a month of thinking? I must be busy with life ... or reading manga lol)

- What the point of the tags "Based on a Fairytale" and "Fairy Tale" ? Errr I mean more is there a difference between the two.
- I was browsing through some tags ... is there a need for a "prequel" tag?

some misused tags
The tag Stockholm Syndrome should be removed from Suna no Rasen there was no kidnapping in the manga ... (well not between the two main characters that is)
Also Kodou , and Unbalance na Netsu for the Stockholm Syndrome tag, there was no kidnapping in these manga either.

Kimi no Iru Sekai Shikairanai - Stepsiblings , and Stepbrother/s should be removed. They both share the same father by blood.
Kitsune no Tama Yobai tag of Shotacon as a Subplot. It's listed under the genres, and definitely not a subplot.

Color (MIMORI Ao) for the tags - "Love Triangle/s" (-4 score) and "Infidelity" (-3)

Is the category tag "VRMMORPG" really necessary when you can just use "MMORPG" + "Virtual Reality" together?

Allies Become Enemies is similar to Friends Become Enemies
Demon Love is similar to Demon Lover
Enemies Become Allies is similar to Enemies Become Friends
Hetero Sex in Yaoi Manga is the same as Straight sex in a yaoi manga
Human Becomes Demon is similar to Human Becomes Monster
Overprotective Sibling/s similar to Protective Sibling/s
Protective Older Brother is similar to Protective Brother
Slow Romance is similar as Very Slow Romance
Young Lover is similar to Younger Lover

Is there a difference between Elite School, Prestigious School, and Private School

I would say there's enough of a difference between Human Becomes Demon and Human Becomes Monster

Not all monsters are demons. Things like vampires, werewolves, and such could be considered monsters, but not demons.

May I ask to exclude merging 'Bespectacled Seme' and 'Bespectacled Uke,' and leave them as separate categories please? I believe each category is popular enough to stand alone as fetishes, and may help reduce people making more unnecessary 'glasses' threads in the 'Yaoi/Yuri' forum.

Allies and friends aren't the same thing.
You can become somebody's ally without being their friend.
I think Gantz is a perfect example.

I also agree with Catz about leaving uke/seme related fetishes separate.

Seems like those tags were already deleted ... Not sure if lynira can bring them back or not.

Although I agree with you, and NightSwan about the bespectacled seme & uke tag. What would be the purpose of keeping bespectacled protagonist if there's already a glasses wearing male lead, and female lead. Or was the tag going to get deleted at some point? ...

The following are the same, with the second being the established tag:
Male Shoujo Protagonist
Shoujo with Male Lead

Also, Shounen with Female Lead has disappeared. I'm going to add it to the manga whose categories I'm working on, but if it disappears again, I won't add it back. I'm not good at following up on things due to IRL limitations, so I gotta do what I can while I can.

I also noticed someone talking about keeping tags focused on the main characters. To some, main=lead character only. To others, main=any important character, including antagonists and the "ensemble" (think Ouran or Fairy Tale).

You might want to focus the tags by contrasting [Adjective] Lead/s with [Adjective] Character/s, or [Adjective] Lead Character/s with [Adjective] Ensemble Character/s if you want the second term clearly to not include the leads. I think the first set is more flexible, myself. Thanks!

Sorry to everyone for the late replies. I've had some personal stuff going on, and the time I have been on the site has been mostly spent sorting those annoying glasses tags... which I still haven't finished yet. I still stand by my reasoning to have male & female versions, but man, there are so many entries that it is wasting a lot of my time.

I'd be fine with "disposable characters" (where I live, at least, "disposable" would be the most common term used for that situation). It's a little less clear than "many character deaths," but still probably good enough.

I merged Fairy Tale with Based on a Fairytale. Browsing through the titles, looks like everything under Fairy Tale is adaptations, etc. of fairy tales (Cinderella, etc.), so I don't see a difference. Someone deleted the Prequel tag already (definitely unneeded--stuff like that gets marked under the "related series" field).

Ok, I've deleted those. I think there are people who are unclear about what Stockholm Syndrome is, and think that it refers to people who feel affection toward any type of abuser, but I'm going to stick with the strict, official definition--kidnappers/captors only.

I merged VRMMORPG with MMORPG. In my opinion, VRMMORPGs aren't a popular enough subject to warrant their own tag, escpecially since it's just a small subgenre of MMORPG. On top of that, as you suggested, using the MMORPG and Virtual Reality tags together already identifies the series just fine.

to Cross2018:
-I'm going to leave Allies Become Enemies, Friends Become Enemies, Enemies Become Allies, and Enemies Become Friends alone. As NightSwan mentioned, allies and friends aren't quite the same.
-Someone already merged Straight sex in a yaoi manga with Hetero Sex in Yaoi Manga.
-I merged Elite School with Prestigious School, but I left Private School alone. (Private school is different; it just means that a school is funded by individuals rather than by the government. There are plenty of private schools that aren't prestigious.)
-I combined both Human Becomes Demon and Human Becomes Monster into a new category, Human Becomes Demon/Monster. Although they involve becoming slightly different types of creatures, it's the same concept (becoming something fiendish).
-I merged Protective Older Brother with Protective Brother.
-I'm going to leave Overprotective Sibling/s and Protective Sibling/s alone. Being overprotective is usually bad, while being protective is usually good, so I think they're different enough. I think Protective Sibling/s should also be split into brother and sister versions (they already have their own tags), but I will sort that later.
-I merged Very Slow Romance with Slow Romance.
-I merged Demon Love with Demon Lover or deleted, where applicable. My initial thought was that Demon Love would be love between two demons, and Demon Lover would be love where only one person is a demon. However, most of the series under Demon Love actually did involve only one demon (meaning a lot of people misunderstand it), so I changed the tag to Demon Lover for those cases, and deleted the rest. There is also the tag Demon-Human Relationship, which overlaps in an unfortunate way: I can't just merge them, because some of the series involve relationships between demon and angels/vampires/etc. I am considering something like sorting the Demon Lover into Demon-Human Relationship and Demon-Nonhuman Relationship--again, I will sort this later.
-Both the Young Lover and Younger Lover tags are not good; we already have Older Female Younger Male and vice-versa, Older Seme Younger Uke and vice-versa, and Age Gap. For now, I merged Young Lover with Younger Lover, but its entries should eventually be sorted into the better tags I mentioned.

People really care whether it's the uke versus the seme that wears glasses? I thought that most people who would use the glasses tags simply found men in glasses attractive, period. If a lot of people really do care which wears the glasses, then I'm okay with having seperate tags.

Quote from kitty1826x

The Bespectacled Protagonist tag is only temporary, and slowly getting deleted. I just combined the remaining bad glasses tags (megane/s, meganekko, etc.) into it because it simplified my work in sorting.

I hope you don't mind I created Glasses-Wearing Seme/Uke since the Bespectacled one was deleted. (and you said you're okay with having them separate)
I have a question though ... Report the Glasses-Wearing Male lead to get deleted when the Glasses-Wearing Seme/Uke tag has been used?
I see the Bespectacled protagonist is slowly getting deleted.

Would only wearing glasses sometimes be enough to for a Glasses-Wearing tag? (like reading glasses)
What about a love triangle where the main two don't wear glasses, but that third does? ... (I tend to not think the 3rd person is a Main lead which is why I ask)

Manga where you can delete Bespectacled protagonist from :
Nakasete! Doctor
Ou-sama Game (TAKAGI Ryo)
Retsujou
Since You're Selfish This also has glasses wearing male lead if you decide to not have the two under one.
Star na Koi
Ouji no Hakoniwa
Yume no Kodomo
Teirui Makura
Sweep!
Ringo ni Hachimitsu
Violence na Kimi ga Suki
Oto no Nai Ame wa Furitsuzuku
Shiranai Kao This does not have any glasses wearing leads ... Not sure why it was added in the first place ... as there's only a brief scene with reading glasses. (Like one page)
Tsumasaki ni Kiss

I can see why this glasses thing is tiring ...

Okay there's an Infidelity, Adultery, and Affair/s tags, which all pretty much mean cheating. (1st tag just meaning cheating, 2nd tag meaning cheating on a spouse, 3rd tag the act of cheating).
I'd say merge them all into Infidelity since that has the most usage already, and covers both cheating on your spouse, or someone you're involved with.

Should Insecure Character merge into Insecurity. The latter has more usage, and I believe has been around longer.

Ahhh yes, like Tripitaka said below me. Thanks lynira for all your hard work with these tags.
(Also I hope everything is going well, or smooths out with your personal life)

I recently found Harem among the categories (yes, a category tag not the genre tag) which ought to be deleted for obvious reasons.

By the way, thanks a lot for all the hard work, lynira! It's awesome how patiently and diligently you go through all of our requests.
