sooo. im an avid romance manga reader, and i am sad to say that i have RUN OUT of titles!!! alas, no matter how hard i search i can't seem to find any remaining good romance mangas left out there.

does anyone have anything uncommon to recommend me?

love doesn't have to be the main focus of the story, but it should still be good enough to pull at my heartstrings. wink

please don't recommend me any popular titles, i have probably already read them or at least tried them out! eg, lovecom, crimson hero, koukou debut, hana kimi, hana dori yango, red river, basara, midnight secretary, gokusen, nodame, glass no kamen, etc etc... what not. the list goes on fooooorever.

also, please don't recommend any korean manhwas, i literally searched up romance and manhwa on MU's genre search and read ALL of them. dead

i am ok with anything as long as its not BL, yaoi, yuri, and the main guy isnt wimpy or weak or makes you cringe. i am more inclined toward shoujo and josei but still open toward other genres. old mangas are good too.

thank you! smile wink grin

You can't go wrong with Boku no Hatsukoi wo Kimi ni Sasagu if you haven't read it yet.

It's the greatest manga I've ever read (so it may fall in the "popular" category). But I may be feeling that way because it's one of the first Shoujo/Romance novels that I've ever read and it's also the only series to make me think about it daily after a whole week. Then again, I already read a few more and none of them seem to keep up with my expectations.

I'm not sure which ones you consider popualr so I'll just list some that I think are very good and unusual, or touching:
Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun - currently only has 3 volumes out and an ongoing series. I give it points for originality in character design...they're all so lovable!
[m]Honey Bunny[/m] - a manga you really can't find anywhere else...because it's got aliens! I love this manga, though some have said it doesn't make sense, but it's highly recommended if you're looking for some uniqueness and short read.
Akashiro Tamago - it's about the romance between a genius girl and a pair of genius twins who are stuck in one body
Koizora - happy at the beginning, but gets sad really fast. This is a very depressing manga but it's still an awesome romance, based on a cellphone novel.
Oboreru Knife - one of my all time favorites, too bad the scanlation's slow
Shounenshoujo Romance - a very weird romance, but still a good short read
Beauty is the Beast - anything by this mangaka is generally awesome. There's a very unique feel to her manga that's not common in othe rworks. Also recommended are Bonze Love, Kiss, Beauty Honey, and [m]Eikawa School Wars[/m]
Sorairo Kaigan - by the same mangaka who drew Koucha Ouji, this one's a lot shorter but I still liked it, and it's kind of unique in that it deals a lot with the ocean, plus the love interest didn't turn out to be who I expected
Bara no Tame ni - this one is pretty old and completely breaks the rule that a heroine can't be overweight, because that's exactly what the protagonist of this manga is
Hana no Namae - I get a strangely peaceful but a little sad feeling whenever I read this manga...it's about a romance between a girl and her guardian
Coelacanth - other works by mangaka also recommended. Main focus isn't romance but they are very enjoyable short reads.
Men's Kou - it's romance from a bunch of guys' perspective. I find this unique because of their...uh...personalities. It's really a lot of comedy and some romance blended together.
Tenkuu Seiryuu - mangaka's other works also recommended - romance really isn't the main focus (it's more supernatural, fantasy, historical, etc.), but her stories are pretty unique
Zig Zag Don - you have to get used to the art style (it's not the best in the world), but I still enjoyed her stories
Tobenai Majo and Kawase Natsuna's other works are short, but heart-warming
Toshi Densetsu - a series of horror one-shots based around urban legends, there is romance in them, though, since it's shoujo

Romance isn't the main focus, but since you said that doesn't bother you; Sing Yesterday for Me should be good.

Immortal Rain - You might have to haul yourself through the first volume, since the artist's style is extremely volatile and constantly developing... but it improves in the later volumes.

The story isn't focused completely around romance—there's drama, tragedy, and some interesting sci-fi ish elements—but the relationship between the main character and Machika is the cutest thing I've ever seen. It's approached in a slightly different way. Machika is a strong but realistic character, and this manga has torn my heart out more than once. The only thing that might be kind of squicky for some is that Machika is 14 when the story starts... Rain appears to be in his early twenties. O__O
