I've read a lot of very good webcomics, and i know there's a big American 'supercharacter' market, but are there any non-Japanese, non-Korean, non-Chinese, etc mangas/manhwa that are not based on 'supercharacters' that have come from Western countries and penetrated Eastern markets?

mad please don't recommend something like "Megatokyo"

Are you looking for recommendations or just asking a question in general?

recommendations, i mean it's obvious that the earliest forms of anime style manga drew parallels from western comics like Mickey Mouse/Betty Boop/etc but i was wondering if any Western manga in modern day has been able to penetrate Eastern manga popularity wise

Well, here's a list of all OEL (Original English Language) manga in the database.

Whether they got popular in the eastern market, I have no idea though...

Holy Avenger is a Brazilian comic in manga style.
I don't know any others... I remember there was an Italian artist that is pretty good.
