She really...sucks.

All of her manga are so alike it's annoying...and the whole, "Come rape me and I'll fall in love with you" thing is so...ugh.

Not a fan of Shinjo Mayu, never will be.

agreed. Her depiction of men and women are just absurd. Because for her, men are totally agressive and always looking for a chance to rape the woman they "supposedly" will fall in love after or have been in love with the whole time and the woman just accepts all of it, the rape and all the abuse. She insults men and particularly woman with her mangas. as if any girl who has been raped will fall in love with her rapist. She seriously needs to check out what happens to girls who get raped and the trauma they have to go through. I personally know what happens and her mangas like Haou whateva is seriously an insult to all those women who have gone thorugh that horrible trauma.

Some of them are OK-ish, but the majority of it is awful.

I still refuse to finish Kaikan Phrase. To date it's the ONLY manga I've started and never finished, or intend to.

I like her shounen stuff. It's crazy girly so I can't quite figure out why it's published in a shounen mag (though jump SQ is weird like that), but it's much better than most of her shoujo. She actually writes decent girls when writing for a male audience.

^ Yeah, her shounens aren't too bad. Nothing groundbreaking but its refreshing to see her do something besides smut rape plots.

The first Shinjo Mayu I read was Love Strip, which was okay. Then I skimmed through a few more of her oneshots and got bored very quickly.

Boring + awful with bad/ugly art (I don't usually like shoujo art, esp. these types of character proportions and design). I don't see anything exciting from them. embarrassed No, contrary to some belief, I don't think her stories are "mature romance" at all. Yeah, she's famous (or infamous) since so many people know about her and many are at least curious to try a bit (big mistake).

If I want to read sex, I'll just find some hentai instead.

I am not against writing smut for girls, but at least please have good art and interesting stories/sex, OK? Shinjo Mayu and the like all fail in this.

I've read some of her stuff. I've finished Akuma na Eros and tried to read Haou Airen next, then the whole rape thing got too much so I dropped it. It's basically just hentai with a little story built around it.

Eh. I've tried to read a couple of her works several times, because I kept hearing about them, especially Kaikan Phrase. But I just couldn't get into them (no pun intended). Also the rape thing was a pretty big turn-off..
I also didn't like how the guys were drawn. The girls were okay though. From what I have read, it seems like the plot is just being recycled and changed only slightly. But yeah, I don't think I'll be going back to reading her works anytime soon because I found them pretty boring, repetitive, and, well.. without much depth. I guess that's why it's just smut.

why do so many people hate her? Her stories are sometimes very similar - they have thier own clichées - but her art is great and the stories are adoreable. She doesn´t have those superdense girls, who think love is just about kissing, and her guys aren´t sterotypical.

Dudess...you are asking a really wrong question. If I had to ask all these people if they loved Twilight then they would squeal and faint. In my eyes I find Twilight a lot more horrible...but there are lots of similarity in the mangas and twilight. No offense meant, if you like it...then you like it. I got no right to tell you what to like and what not to like.

Now to the mangas by Shinjo Mayu...she's a perv, lol. Just as much as every other smut author out there. Have anyone read any smut manga where the girl wasn't forced...sorry 'raped' and then fall in love with the guy? Probably not!

I'm a male...and before people start bashing me for being male and having this 'kind' of opinion...I read H. In H we got rape too....and if I compare with rape from there and this 'rape'...sorry...the girl is raped in every manga? WTF!!! Someone need to show it to me cuz I read every manga of her and I didn't see rapes...(Haou airen or Kaikan Phrase..dunno long time since I read them...and never finished...). Oh btw I'm not saying anything liking rape hentai mangas...no I like cute love stories where 2 people have sex and love each other more and more and more and more...yes passionate love stories in my H, lol.

Now with Shinjo Mayu....She's cute...I have to say that she's one of the very few mangakas who's actually got a nice face to look at..ehem back to her mangas:

Her girls are usually stupid bimbos who doesn't know better and love to get in bed with famous guys.

Her guys are insecure guys who only plays smart and secure and trap the girl in their love so they won't lose her. Still they feel incredible insecure when a new guy comes in the picture or when they have to protect her from something....they show weakness...which girls like to see, bimbos too.

Her stories are....well at the start her stories were just the same all of them...no really. I still liked to read it but I'm not a huge fan of her. I like to read them in my free time when I got nothing better to read.
Then she released Ren'ai Strip which is my favorite of her titles. I loved it how the girl is a geek with classes and the guy who has been in love with her since he was small, tsundere! XD
Later she released Love Celeb which I liked too since it was different from her usual stuff....sadly like someone else pointed out...it lost it's touch and became her usual stuff. Atm I like her Ai wo Utau Yori Ore ni Oborero since the roles are kind of reversed...I haven't read it for some time since I've been quite busy with uni so...I hope it continues as before and hasn't lost it's touch. Btw it had rape too...well it was going to be rape if the chick wasn't saved. She would have been raped by her girl senpai, lol. laugh

The title I would like to read from her stuff right now is probably Ayakashi Koi Emaki. Only the first chapter is scanned but it was interesting, it made me smile. Yometora seems to be interesting too from the cover, lol. laugh

Lastly I want to answer the question as someone else pointing out: If you hate her mangas that much how come you know so much about her mangas?
Easy, they read it and love it but the officially they hate it, lol. They probably say the same about Ohmi Tomu mangas, lol. She did Midnight Secretary and Kindan no Koi-series. laugh

The rest who doesn't really like it...it's probably because the males in this manga are possesive lovers...they don't like guys who try to posses you so you like for them and they for you. They need space and freedom! wink

...and now back to the exams, lol.

I'm not a fan of it, but I was actually pretty amused with Ai wo Utau Yori Ore ni Oborero or Ai Ore! There's no rape, and it intentionally pokes fun of shoujo cliches and the like. Funny enough though, this series is categorized as 'smut,' but there hasn't really been anything of the sort (after 7 or so volumes total). So that's a first for this mangaka, I think.

The only one thing that kinda turns me off about Ai Ore! as opposed to Ai wo Utau Yori Ore ni Oborero is that the leading male isn't quite as funny and sneaky as he started out to be....that and he has one too many pervs chasing after him. I'm not really into the light BL stuff (sorry), so I'm kind of put off by the fact that he seems more like a helpless girl in these latter issues. If it continues, then I'll stop reading; but if she just tones that stuff down, then this will be the only series that she's done that falls into my 'cliched yet tolerable' shoujo category. Other than this series, I don't like any of her previous works. By the same token, I don't really hate anything that she's done, however. I've read all of her works, so I can say this with an honest opinion. Most of her leading males are a bit too pushy for my taste. But again, I don't hate any of her works or think that they're stupid. It's not that serious for me. cool

Also, I happen to like Ohmi Tomu's Midnight Secretary. But I won't get into that here. bigrazz

I think so too. Maybe some of this people here kist don´t like mayu shinjo because they are influencened by the opinon of the crowd. Don´t say you hate it until you tried it out - and i mean not just rush over the pages, read it properly and think about it meanings

I tried to be open-minded and read some of her mangas. I really tried. But I just couldn't read more than a few chapters. And during those chapters I kept skipping pages. Yes, they are that boring. The way the stories are written (dialogs, character interactions, etc) makes them really hard to be taken seriously. While reading them, I kept thinking "why am I wasting time reading this", "who cares what will happen next in the plot", "it's just repetitive to the point of being rediculous". Like someone said, her girls look OK while the guys are drawn badly. none Even art alone is not appealing.

If you want an example of good and interesting smut, try Self. The author is also female.

Um yeah, tons. In fact, the majority of what I read have consensual sex.

Don't you think being possessive and controlling as well "trapping" the girl in their love (ugh) could come off as skeezy? A lot of her stuff has the same old "When I say no, I really mean yes!" bullshit. I did read her stuff a lot when I first stumbled into the wide world of scans but now I can't stand to read her stuff. Aside from her plots, her chins are so pointy! I could cut cut up vegetables with those suckers.

Thank you for saying exactly how I feel about her manga. I was an unfortunate newbie once when I read her mangas. I absolutely HATE every mangas she has out. I will never ever read any of her mangas again nor will I ever be a fan of hers.

She has a twisted mind that needs to be check out.
