I am looking for manga's with a dysfunctional romantic relationship. It can be Het/Yaoi/Yuri in any genre. Side pairings are allright as long as their somewhat important. I have some criterias though;

- No Yaoi rape manga's, where the victim is forgiving and the rapist is actually a good guy.
- No "I am just mean to you to protect you" bullshit. I want real mean people, without hidden good intentions.
- No unrealistic happy endings. If it's really well written it's allright, but no sudden fluffy personality changes.

Examples include;

Seishirou/Subaru from Tokyo babylon.

Shigure/Akito/Kureno from Fruits Basket.

Shen/Yuuji from Animal X.

Fatima/Shahyrar from 1001 nights.

Jeremy/Ian from Zankoku na Kami ga Shihaisuru.

Tetsu/Rika from Tetsu X Rika and ShiikuGakari Rika.

Implied relationships are okay aswell. It doesn't have to be consumated.

I would love anyone who could help me find some good f*cked up couples.. =D

Zetsuai and its sequel Bronze should fit.
Seimaden -Maybe.
Mirage of Blaze (novel) might also be okay.

I've never read any of these, so I can't be absolutely certain. But from what I've heard, there are some pretty screwed-up relationships in them.

@cyclamen
Zetsuai and Bronze might fit.. I tried reading them, but just couldn't grow to like it, I guess..
Seimaden - If you're talking about the subplot; then yes this is perfect. ;P Unfortunately I have already read it..
Mirage of Blaze (novel) is not quite what I was looking for, as far as I know this is full of good intentions..
Thanks a lot though.. ^_^

@dancebaby
I have never read Let Dai, but it sounds like it will fit..
Thanks a lot.

@chulian1819
100% Perfect Girl and Haru yo, koi ; May I ask how they're dysfunctional? From the summary theys seemed pretty normal?

What, really? I don't want to argue because I haven't read it; but according to my friends, the relationship between Kagetora (I think that was his name) and his 'vassal' is anything but 'filled with good intentions'. It's supposed to be really dark, obsessive and twisted.

I might be wrong, but from what I watched and heard I got the impression that their past selves(from another life) where the ones having an angsty, twisted realtionship. At the end of the day Naoe still helps, serves and sacrifices a lot for Kagetora, despite his rather unhealthy obsession. So despite being kind of creepy and dark, at the end of the day Naoe is unselfish and will do anything to save and help Kagetora.

What I'm looking for is cruel, selfish people if that makes sense?
An example that is somewhat similar to Mirage of Blaze, but closer to what I'm looking for is Tokyo Babylon.
Spoiler (highlight to view)
Where Seishirou is a sociopath and honestly doesn't care about Subaru's well being. He purposely, and without any remorse or mental illness of any sort abuses and tortures him for no good reason.
Similarily Akito is selfish, cruel and abusive towards both Kureno and Shigure.

Then, I don't think Ian of Zankoku na kami ga shihaisuru fits your criteria. The sociopath is his father, Greg smile

100% Perfect Girl seems normal in the beginning....but all too soon that nice young man begins on the road to insanity.....or obsession anyway. I quit once the love triangle got serious. dead

The sociopath thing was just an example.. ^_^
I realize that Ian is not a bad guy, but his relationship with Jeremy is very dysfunctional as far as I have read. (Though I have only read up to volume 8 so far so that might change..?) Theres no physical abuse, but mentally their relationship is very unhealthy.

I would like to second The Cornered Mouse Dreams of Cheese from the threads calstine found.

A lot of Kunieda Saika's short stories are pretty messed up too. Check out Like as the Time Will Come When it Will Rain in particular.
