If freedom is being able to do what ever you want when ever you want then no one is free. from the moment you are born 'forced' to accept the order and ideals of society, parents and governments. this is done in a way that you don't even know it.

you can also say everyone is free but no one excises that freedom to the fullest due to the consequences of every action. i believe everyone has the right to do whatever they want and as do I, sometimes i want to kill them and they don't want to die. to put it simply no one has complete freedom even you mind is influenced by the ideals of the previous generations and current governments as well as corporations.

even if you were by your self you will still be self governed by the ideals that has been engraved into you. am i free? yes in simple terms.
mankind were no made to enjoy complete freedom after all we need some self imposed restrictions to recognize what freedom is.

Well, this poll really limits your definition of freedom. My ideal kind of freedom is really just what I am now plus freedom of thoughts. Not freedom of speech particularly, but freedom of the mind. The ability to distinguish one's true thoughts and desires from social factors and surrounding indoctrinations.

this song just sums up everything for me:

"we'll wake up your mothers, we'll start a commotion
we'll take you apart, yeah, we'll swallow the ocean
and just when you've labeled us one of your types
we'll fly our flag right up up out of your sky
so puff out your chest in some weird dusty fight
we're taking no part in your cracked antique life
we're believing everything that we have heard
we're taking our turn with the kids that don't learn
you know i'm going to take my turn.

let us be free, let us sing songs along
the bottoms of barrels, let us be free!!"

by Tilly and the Wall called "Sing Songs Along."

it's just absolutely wild and it just makes me want to scream at the top of my lungs
and let out all the frustration of being confined. LET US BE FREE. (:

I never had freedom. I'm chained to things I hate and can never be free of unless I am dead.
simple as that. some may have freedom but I don't so...

There is a limit to the amount of freedom you can achieve and that is limited by the laws of society, but no one is ever truly free.

What does it mean to be free? - Not being super restricted by rules.
Are you free? - In my opinion, the U.S. is one of the best countries with the most freedom.
Is anyone free? - Depends on their circumstances and the place.
Do prisoners have freedom? - Lol wtf no.
What do you think of choices people make? - Uh, Idk.
Is America Really a land of the free? - In my opinion, yes.
Can you find freedom through religion? - Depends.
Can you really have peace and freedom together? - Yes.
Can the truth really set you free? - Idk.

Freedom is a privilege.

Edit--
I would have said yes in the poll if it wasn't for the sentence that followed it. none
So, I didn't select an answer. :]

Freedom in it's purest form would mean you have to live needing nothing...
There's that yogi-guru kind of guy in India that's lived for more than 50 yrs in the mountains wihtout eating, I guess that would be real freedom...
Being part of society means giving up some of your own freedom doesn't it?
I prefer chaining myself down with some restrictions and live in an apartment and something to eat though and pretty much everyone else here does (you're sitting in front of a computer aren't you?)

Absolute freedom doesn't exist, we all are bound by the laws of man and the laws of nature. We have personal freedoms, but nothing more. The only who are truely free our beings of divinity. If there is a God, he is free. He would stand outside of time and unfazed by laws of nature or man, he can do and be whatever. But seeing as that freedom doesn't exist to a mortal man, I think yea we have a kind of freedom. In America we can do what we want for the most part. No we can't kill a man or steal from a man, but in a sense if we do those things we are robbing them of their freedom. If a persons freedom to take and anothers freedom to keep clashes, who's to say which is in the right. Freedom in the confinds of the law is probably true freedom, it gives a step of rules of what can and can't be done. A state with out government can't survive, a man without morals is an animal, and a game with out rules is a mess. For so many coexisting enitities we have to choose what is aloud and what isn't, to have everyone doing something different will have to many conflicting parties. I say with the laws that govern man in place we still have freedom.

Truthfully speaking, there is such a thing as freedom.

Think about it:
The Earth is only in our heads.
The continents are only in our heads.
The nations are only in our heads.
The governments of our nations are only in our heads.
The connections we share with other people are only in our heads.
The idea of a self is only in your head.

Our entire world only runs on a social network of minds that use pointers (scripts on paper, books, art, music, etc.) to conglomerate and separate ourselves and our "information" in order to survive successfully, like an animal.

Everyone has freedom, but they chose to cage themselves in order to live.

i.e. Becoming self aware has given people the ability to lose their freedom.

Wow, this reminds me of the last episode of evangelion, and a bit of V for Vendetta.

You can say there is, you can say there isn't.

If you live under oppression, you still have your choices, your freedom. You could choose to stand up (and get whacked, tortured, killed, etc.) or you could choose to comply (and live under fear). In a sense, you have freedom (just an unpleasant version of freedom)

If you live in a state with order, you could say you're free, under a ideal government, or you could say you're bound by rules and such and such. You don't get killed for speaking against the government, but you are still bound by it's rules.

So yeah, that's my opinion and I think freedom lies in ones hands, all one has to do is grasp it.

Completely agree. Everyone is born with freedom, we just get so bombarded with rules/regulations and general oppression we just tend to forget that if we really wanted to, were free to rob the convenience store down the street.

The poll only has 2 options. But I chose the third option of not voting in it. Ha.

I don't agree with either options;

Freedom is something we have in our minds, in our minds we can be anything from a massmurderer to a holy saint or God itself and we can do wathever we want inside our minds.

I kinda like how Kant put it.
Wether we are free or not, is something we can never know for sure, though it is very likely we are not free.
But, for the sake of morality, we must think we are free.

Not sure if I agree though. Still working on formulating my own thoughts on the matter.
