This year's ninth issue of Shogakukan's Sho-Comi magazine has announced on Monday that an anime DVD version of Kanan Minami's Kyō, Koi o Hajimemasu shōjo romance manga has been green-lit. The DVD will ship with the ninth volume of the manga this summer. J.C. Staff (Nodame Cantabile, Honey and Clover) is producing the animation, and Shigeyasu Yamauchi (Boys Over Flowers) is directing. The cast and other details have yet to be announced.

The story centers around Tsubaki Hibino, a girl who is indifferent to both romance and fashion, even though she loves giving other people adorable hairstyles. On the first day of high school, she happened to sit next to Kyōta, a mean-spirited boy who teases her. In retaliation, she spontaneously pulls out scissors and cuts off his long tresses of hair. Thus begins the long love-hate relationship between Tsubaki and Kyōta.

The Kyō, Koi o Hajimemasu manga has been running in Sho-Comi since 2008, and Shogakukan has published 10 million copies of the first eight volumes so far. Radix animated another manga of Minami's, Honey & Honey Drops, for an original anime DVD project in 2006.

Okay, I understand you are really happy about this, but could you tone it down a bit next time. Because, I just had this vision that the MF yaoi/smut fangirls where charging us, the deer in their headlights, for a sec.

"Officially, this machine doesn't exist, you didn't get it from me,
and I don't know you. Make sure it doesn't leave the building."

Holy FUCKING shit, are you FOR REAL?

Minami Kanan must be jumping out of her seat.

But... WOW. I'm more surprised that a series from SHO-COMI is getting animated. Shit from there NEVER gets animated. A series is lucky to reach even close to 10 volumes.
