I've been reading manga for a while now and I have found that I enjoy the Shounen genre the most.
Unfortunatly, almost every Shounen I come across has an idealistic protagonist that keeps shouting about protecting his friends, good vs bad and so on.
As you might have guessed, I am finding that really annoying.
It has come so far that it straight up ruins my reading experiences.
What i'm saying is that i'm looking for a shounen manga with an unidealistic male lead. Preferably badass (like Oga in Beelzebub)
I've already read Beelzebub (as stated above), Veritas, Death Note (it's Shounen, strangely enough), Naruto (Sasuke is now the real lead) and probably some I can't remember.
Any help would be really appreciated!

Gintama sounds kind of like what you're looking for. Its pretty much meant to be humor, humor, humor. It does occasionally have the 'friend' aspect, but it doesn't get in the way. It only gets better (Sorry, I'm not sure if you've already read this manga)

The World God Only Knows is the story about a boy who has no interest in the real world, forced to capture the hearts of various females with his dating sim know-hows to catch demons.
Welcome to the NHK! is about a shut-in and his wild delusions.
Great Teacher Onizuka... well, shit, guess you know this one.
Future Diary is about a stupid boy with a precognizant cellphone diary, and his bat-shit crazy stalker girlfriend. And then some.

Looks like you're looking for an Antihero!
- Also, En Passant stars the king of pessimists, though it's mostly comedy. He does appear to have some pretty awesome powers, though.
- Kuroshitsuji also has a rather dark theme to it and all the main characters are very unidealistic.
- Maybe Mirai Nikki, though Yuuki can be kinda idealistic and he does want to save his friends, but his personality has certainly taken a darker twist in the latest chapters.
- Luck Stealer, though he is helping his daughter... but he is certainly unidealistic.
- Also Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro, I suppose, though I've never actually read it.
- I really liked Mx0, though I guess the issue of "protecting your friends" and "good vs evil" never really comes up (I can't really recall most of it, it's been a while since I read it, so sorry if it's totally inappropriate for your request). XD
- Holyland is also pretty dark and he mostly fights because he wants to defend himself and because he likes it XD Though there is this one part where he does the whole "revenge" thing for his friend. Hmmm... I can't recall if he's idealistic or not, really. I just remember lots of fighting XD
- Witch Hunter also has a protagonist who doesn't really fight for his friends. More for himself and money and Halloween (his minion)...
Some non-fighting manga (thus non-protecting-your-friends manga) would also fulfill your request XD (things like sports manga and whatnot, which are shounen without fighting)

Zippy Ziggy--pretty good this one. The dude is a liar and is keeping up a facade fooling everyone into thinking that he is all for justice etc.
Code:Breaker---the dude has no problems killing people and handing out justice and he also likes to repeatedly say cheesy lines like "burn to ashes". So it has the kind of lead that you are looking for. Problem is that the mangaka doesn't really know when not to use humour. It switches between gag and serious quite fast and that put me off in the later chapters. Try it and see.
