I just noticed today that some of my most favorite shounen battle mangas are written by female authors. It's funny because I'll be reading the series and suddenly think to myself, there is something slightly female minded about the writing and when I look, "I knew it!"

Also sometimes it's that art. I'll be reading and suddenly it will pop into my head, these drawings seem like they have been done by a girl. Sometimes it's that the guys just seem to bishonen, or the cloths a little to well designed.

Here are a few of the mangas I'm talking about
Kekkaishi
Ao no Exorcist
SHINSENGUMI IMON PEACE MAKER

There have also been times when I was wrong, and couldn't believe it wasn't written by that specific gender
Have you ever been reading a shounen manga and suddenly felt that this must have been written by a girl.

well Rumiko Takahashi is a woman who created several shounen manga such as Ranma 1/2 & Inuyasha

yea when I was reading code breaker, it felt like that. One girl surrounded by male bishies mostly and she is annoying like those cliche shoujo heroines. Don't know if the mangaka is a chick or not. It just felt like that to me.

Hahah, I've noticed that too.
There's also Fullmetal Alchemist and Kateikyoushi Hitman Reborn!

For FMA, it was actually surprising to me to find out the manga-ka was a woman, but then again, the story and character interactions had this small "female vibe" to it (mostly the bond between the Elric bros).
And Reborn...... yeah, that was definately created by a woman. hahaha.

Yess! That was the absolute first manga I thought of when I read the topic title.

Works by CLAMP. Even if you've encountered them by chance and don't know anything, you'll realize it was written by women as soon as the BL subplots kick in. none
Fullmetal Alchemist is written by a woman, though it doesn't show much, except for that brotherly love... Oh, it was already said.
And Aria was mentioned, too. Though I wouldn't say it's all that obvious.

MOST but NOT ALL CLAMP works are shoujo, Tsubasa, xxxHolic, & Angelic Layer are about the only exceptions i can think of

Don't forget Kawashita Mizuki. She does stuff for SJ like Ichigo 100% and Ane Doki. I could tell somehow or another when I saw the kinda romance scene she produced.
