In search of a Shounen/Seinen-Action/Adventure with the set-up of a cool/tough/mysterious male adult accompanied by a braddy/needy/adorable female child due to certain consequences. Development are to occur for this pair as the story progress...for instance - distance at first but later grown attached to each other (as in the male desire to protect and the child develop admiration/a turn for refuge or a crush if you will...I don't really mind some loli-fun smile wink grin ). Something along the line of Devil May Cry, Gunslinger Girl, Kure-nai (I've only seen the anime so not sure about the manga) and maybe Eat-Man (haven't read, only heard - could use confirmation on this one) would provide a great example.

Please avoid suggesting slice-of-life type of manga since it's not within my search and just fyi I've already went through manga(s) with the tag Child Care. Also, my reading and completed lists are public so please reference those. Thanks!

Butterfly -- never actually read this, but it seems like what you're looking for
Dance in the Vampire Bund -- Akira's decently cool and gets cooler as the series progresses, while Mina remains a disturbingly ecchi loli.
White Dragon -- Pretty much what you're looking for. I can't quite recall if there's some build-up chapters before the girl appears though there probably are.
Blood Alone -- More vampires, though this is more slice-of-life-ish, and the action is pretty tame
Embalming - The Another Tale of Frankenstein -- The pair doesn't appear until the second arc, though they are main characters. You might find a similar relationship in the first arc, though.
C-Blossom - Case 729 -- Perhaps, though the girl isn't very loli-ish since she's in high school XD
Watashi no Ookami-san and maybe its sequel Dear -- I personally enjoyed Dear much better. Anyway, this gives off a lot of shoujo vibes and it's probably more slice-of-life than plot. And the characters only look like lolis, since I think they're the same age or around therebouts XD
Meteor Methuselah -- Rain is pretty mysterious in his own way, though he comes off as kind of a care-free goof. Machika starts off at 14, so I don't know if that's young enough for you... but this is a great manga, though!
Hatenkou Yuugi -- The art starts off DREADFUL and it's pretty boring for a while, but it gets really good eventually. I love it, anyway XD Though, again, Rahzel might not be loli/needy as what you're looking for.

Thanks for the suggestions...I'll look into those when I get the chance. Too bad all of them are in such short volumes...it's always discouraging when a manga is below 7-8 volume long - would wonder how the author is going to develop the character(s) in a fast-paced manner...or maybe each chapter are packed with over 80 pages laugh It would be awesome though if this site can include the number of pages total on the info as well so I don't have to turn to another source like ANN...just a thought.
