I am looking for a series where there is a male character (preferably the main character, or at least constantly present/referenced) who befriends a female character.

As time passes they become good friends but the female character begins to think that he's only nice to her because he wants to go out with her or take advantage of her (Body/Money/Reputation or whatever), which is not the case. Eventually she treats him differently, confrontes, avoids him or whatever. And then the male character develops feelings for the girl.

No, this is not a series I read. Yes, it is somewhat specific, but I would really apreciate it if some one could recomend me some series where a similar situation arises.
No Yaoi/Hentai. Anything else is fine.
