Last year, the MangaHelper's business plan was leaked in which the admins and staff members of MH were planning to make their site a pay-to-read site without asking the scanlation teams providing to their site about this idea.

After the leak, there were short announcements in which MH admin njt stated that to make MH the "crunchyroll for scanlations" and that this plan will be a benefit for the whole scanlation community.

Months later, there is no statement of MH wether did draw back from their business plan or not. After a while I found the person who leaked the business plan of MH last year and asked what MH is currently doing about it:

Spoiler (highlight to view)

MH did lose most of it's endorsement by the community after their business plan became public last year. Then, they told everyone last month that they took down most of their raws because of the request of Shueisha. True is, that MH lost 40% of it's traffic after that, which mostly came from Japan. But it's also true that the business talks with Kodansha are now near to succeed after they fullfiled Kodanshas wishes.

Most MH members get the impression that they are not allowed to talk about this issue, their discontent with mods behaviour, the politics of the website or are able participate in site developments or open discussion.
Users and scanlators are more and more dragged out to be mere servants for a forum that plans to charge money for free work and pursuit and ban those who disagree with these plans.

The profiteers of selling MangaHelpers and it's members are the MH staff members and people involved. There are already translators who have established a system of charging money from groups for their translations while others do it for free and because they have fun with it. This is not only tolerated but welcomed by MH. Several tranlators have made up a system to translate for cash only and exclusively.

The same system will be established for scanlations soon.
Main person behind this plan is zidane of binktopia. He was also one of the major persons behind the business plan financing and he is highly interested not only to work exclusively on the most popular mangas for Shueisha, but monopolizing and installing MH as the major system of scanlation, replacing free scanlation. Most of the new rules origin from zidanes plans to force a new system over the now existing community. More and more new rules are made up every week with shallow arguments, until the new system is finally installed and the groups releasing at MH are caught in it.

But making a half-legal business illegaly and criminalize the community will ruin it. Please help to make this public and post to anyone who is involved or interested to put pressure on MH.
Thank you.

Yeah yeah, I see your crusade. I have a few spare minutes, so here's the many reasons where you're wrong.

First off, your picture:

1) We have not communicated with Kodansha since the CnD, and we don't plan on starting now.
2) We do not have $35000 invested in some business plan at all. In fact, there is no active going business plan for MangaHelpers. It is what it is, and will remain that way.
3) The idea that we'd be forced to provide contact information to Kodansha for legal actions is not only ludicrous, it's illegal. We would have to be subpoenaed by a court in the country of which the MH servers are hosted to give out personal information. Not only that but complying data privacy laws mean that we trim our stored data when it gets older than x.

Do you like making up numbers? We dropped our daily pageviews by 60%, but retained 80% of our total visitors. Yes, it means Japanese people still visit the website, and yes - it means that we effectively cut out over a million page views a day, and yes that sucks for us; but at the behest of a company our communication history limits itself to a poorly written engrish CnD and our reply?

Get a grip dude.

Spoken as a true outsider! If it was not for the fact that I suspect you are some silly little kid with a revenge plot, I'd invite you into IRC to tell you about cool new shit we want to make myself. Oh well, your loss.

This is probably the most ludicrous piece of made up garbage I have read in a long time. I'm not even going to justify the stupidity of this with any other comment than "Area 51's underground alien spaceships are more real than the fictional garbage of a conspiracy theory that this quote is".

I am not going to be posting in all the other threads. Good luck with your smear campaign; send me a postcard from lonely island when you get bored making up random stuff.

Good day sir!
