This has bugged me since the beginning of the soul society arc. If you can die after you go to souls society, what happens after that? Did i miss that explanation or something?

Don't recall one confused

However, I bet Ichigo is going to die eventually, and they'll deal with it then. Guesses: souls (1) cease to exist or (2) go to some form of hell/purgatory! (don't want that boring DBZ afterlife)

lol... You guys completely missed the explanation? If I remember correctly Soul Society is a limbo state. There are two paths you can take once you are in Soul Society, to stay and live there and maybe possibly become a Shinigami or to reincarnate. I believe at one point they said(I want to say when the bird-boy either goes off to soul society or he meets Chad again in the Soul Society) that he is sticking around to search for his mother... but it's been so long since I've read it I can't be sure.

But I do remember an explanation about how the Quincy's were being eliminated because they completely destroyed the soul inside of a hollow instead of purifying it and sending it to the Soul Society, Thus, it created an unbalance in the souls on earth and soul society and something or other would happen... I can't remember anymore...

but i don't see anything in you're explanation which answers the question, what happens to souls that die in Soul Society. and that is probably they run Snake Way. ^_^)>

Haha... Yea... I missed the main question/ >_>; I ended up misunderstanding what he was asking. xD

Dying in Spirit form... If I remember correctly(just came to me). It's explained when Ichigo is being trained just before the save Rukia Arc by the shop owner and he is first taken out of his body with no Shinigami powers. If I am remembering this correctly the shop owner says that if his spirit/soul is killed/destroyed then it disappears forever.

Thought they said somewhere the Soul Society was the next staging point for those who had trouble moving onto whatever they wish to be. Like when First met Rukia and renji and friends, in flash back. Most have 'died' lift the Soul Society for the next place.

Rukia and renji go on to be Shinigami fighting those nasty hollows and all's done everybody goes on the wheel of reincarnation.

Remember this anime is from a non christian place. A lot there do believe in coming back, so they leave that point open. Just like in there popular thought.

I think that they get reborn in a new life. Didn't Rukia say something about exchanging souls between earth and Soul Society?

Correct me if I'm wrong:
Souls 'dying' in the SS cease to exist. Each soul is splitting into particles ( so called 'spirit particles') and is diffusing in the SS.
Spirit particles are the source of shinigamis power.

I don't remember if it was mentioned in the manga, but for sure in the anime-there was a scene, where Rukia was regaining her powers in SS by absorbing the spirit particles. All the Bounty were also doing something like that.

One thing is sure - they are incapable of controlling their growth (if so, captain Hitsugaya wouldn't be still a kid).
It looks like the life of a shinigami is simply much longer than a regular human life and that's all.
God, it would be a pain... can you imagine, one or two centuries of adolescence?
