Uh... Doees anyone else think Hunter X Hunter needs a female main character and some hinted love interest Spoiler (highlight to view) (other than Palm and Gon...) ? Because somehow you start to get the impression that Killua and Gon are gay... =.=

They're still kids, haven't even hit puberty it seems... Why should they be lusting after women?

I don't think they need more females (though I am not against it), but they either need to bring back the old gang, like Leorio and Kurapica, or make Killua a little less....gay? The way Killua acts sometimes is really gay; i was reading chapter 199 where he was calling Gon "the light" and he sometimes has to avert his eyes. And on he also says stuff like "I never want to leave his side". I get that they are just supposed to be really close (as friends), but when it's just the two of them they come off as quite gay.
Wow. That was much more than I had planned to write.

Silly... off course there is a lot of innuendos with gon and killua, but only for the 'eyes' of olders readers. It's a shounen series made for small kids, like dragon ball, centered exclusively in the fights, all that friedship crap that is overly explored and blah blah blah. Female characters could change the focus... but if well done, it would be great. ps.: I thought that Pitou was a girl, his image is very girly.

I'm all for love interests in manga and other media but it's nice sometimes to see love not play a major role in shaping the story and the direction it heads. I think the series works extremely well with Gon and Killua's friendship and how their friendship is strengthened and develops through the Hunter x Hunter story. Togashi is beast.

I would hate it if a girl Spoiler (highlight to view) apart from Palm came between Gon and Killua, unless it were very well done, which is quite possible with Togashi, but still. I´m one of these major readers Harusohma (actually, I also thought Pitou was a girl) mentioned, and for me, it´s pretty obvious Gon and Killua´s relationship is more than mere friendship even if it´s totally platonic. I could be biased cause I´m a yaoi lover but I really don´t think so. I also think that Gon is going to hurt Killua, sooner or later, if it´s not already done. Actually, when I read Banana fish, which is tagged "shônen ai" a short while ago, I thought the relation ship of the two heroes reminded me of Gon and Killua´s. So, even if I love romance, please, no girl and no romance here! Things are just fine as they are.

The manga isn't focus on romance and more on action/friendship. I think its better to stay that way and it might even destroy the image of the manga. Looking for romance? go find it elsewhere... pretty sure there are a lot of romance manga out there

Sometimes i thought that it would balance things out if there were to be a female within the main group. Not so much for romance though, because like said above, Gon and Killua are kids and love shouldnt be an aspect as of now. Eitherway for one part there seem to be veeeery few female hunters which is kind of odd. That there would be more men then women, okay, but the way it is displayed it seems wrong. An other point is, that a female point of view to the aspects the characters come across would spread the possible opinons to the topics like "good", "bad" and such. In parts there are compensations of that by Gon and in the last chapters by Knuckle.
Overall, its not entirely necessary but could be a good addon for future arcs.

We meet Gon and Killua when they are 12 years old taking the Hunter Exam. We know at less a year has passed because Killua got his lisence during the Green Island Arc. So now they are 13 maybe 14 years old at the most.
As for their relationship, Gon and Killua are brothers to the core. They mine have some rough time ahead, but it will work out in the end.
