It does not matter to me at all, not even one bit. -.- (and i have read quite a lot of mangas)

I get too into the story so i don't even notice if the art is good or not, what does matter is if the action (not only fights but reaction and the like) match the situation and give you a feeling of movement

I came to manga because of the art, so it is pretty obvious that the drawing matters to me quite a lot. On the other hand, if the story was appalling or impossible to swallow, I would drop that manga anytime.

Manga is a drawing story, being expressed by both lines and art. Some of them need not even a single sentence to show what the mangaka is trying to bring out. However, it also goes the other way around. If the story was convincing and fascinating enough, at some point nobody would bother to complain about how it was drawn.

The art is a major factor to create a good manga, but not everything that counts.
(It is still on top of my priority list though.)

It really does depends. I read Kaiji, the art styles is bad but great is plot. I read Love Hina, the art style is passable, but the plot is bad (Personally).
Just because something looks good doesn't mean it is good. That's my rule. smile wink grin

It depends. Although I feel the story is the most important part, if the art is horrible, I can't even focus on the story. Of course i can bear some degree of bad art, but i would rather read a novel and let my imagination run instead of having to deal with art that seems to be worse then an elementary student's.

Air gear and Tenjo Tenge are perfect example, fantastic and beautiful art but the story is flying at the speed of light in some weird ass direction embarrassed
Art does matter but if the story is shitty it usually doesnt justify it, good story and something on the border of decent art might cut it, worse art and the story has to be a killer.
One Piece is another perfect example, (in my case i watched the anime though), the art was killing me but i got through several episode and i dont regret it, the art progressed and the story is great.

matter..
to me, the best way to truly 'get along' with the manga is through the art,,
there really are some great manga like kimi wa pet that i can't finish because of the art,(i only touched the first chapter).. i'm okay with the old art like from cat's eye or something like that but not the art that didn't even have a proper background..

I'd think so since manga, besides the concept, focuses on visuals as a communicative medium. What captures your interest in a manga first is usually the artwork from it. But then again there are a few styles I tolerate just to absorb the story.

It depends for me. Story is what matters first but in some cases art is very important. Example: It's hard to enjoy a series with a lot of action if the art isn't clear and clean and you can't follow the fighting sequences.

Most of the time it does matter. I cannot bring myself to read something if I don't like the art at all, and I can read a so-so storyline if I like the graphics.

BUT some mangas do have this little thing with which the art doesn't matter much anymore ^^

Art matters, but not as much as the story
But the art hav to b good or at least 'see-able' to grab the readers into the story
If i see an ugly cover, i wont pick up the manga

when i'm looking for a new manga to read, art does definitely play a part. the times when art really matters is if i'm not sure if i'm interested in the manga based solely on the summary given. so if i read a summary that is so-so, and the art looks great i'll give the manga i try. on the other hand, if i read a summary that is so-so, and i don't like the art i'll pass on it.

but when i read a summary and i'm really interested in the story, i won't decide not to read the manga just because i hate the artwork. i find that i can usually get used to art i don't like once i'm really into the story. after a couple of chapters the things that bothered me about the art don't really matter anymore.

If I consider something to be funny, I'll read it no matter how bad the art is. For something action/romance/drama based, I'd prefer it if the art was at least half-decent. But the story is still the most important thing.

Yes. Hell yes. To me, it matters a hell of a lot.

I've managed to get through some manga that had some, unique or odd style of drawing as I soon got used to the style, especially if the story was interesting enough.
I have dropped a manga though because I couldn't handle the artwork and the story wasn't gripping enough for me to keep on staring at it.
I would happily read a manga with a shit plot and pretty art though laugh

Depends, leaning on yes.

What I mean is that the manga in question has to have art that's fitting to its general themes and storyline. I don't want to invest a great deal of time on a certain title that's more of a supernatural horror / drama with some mature themes, but has artwork resembling one of those mega-volume shounen titles, I simply can't take that particular series in question seriously.

Of course, if a certain manga with substandard artwork (in my view) has gotten some decent reviews then I might take look at it and give it a shot. But, as long as the main storyline of the series has got me interested enough to read a few chapters, then I'll probably stick around with that title for the long run.
