im betting im the only one in family that thought it was funny (or even knew why it was funny).

this happened on saterday, i'd been dragged to my aunt and uncles house adn the usaul things were happening and just as usual my aunt was asked me to give her tips to get her son to read more. Seriously WTF is wrong with parents mine would want a son like my aunts who obedient, active, and someone who'll be one of those smart jocky preps in his teenage years. And here she is blathering on about how her kid doesnt like to read so i gave her the same speach i've given her for 3 years, "you cant force someone to like doing something they hate blah blah blah blah". after a while she let up and i went back to reading when my cousin came around and asked me to play with him. Like their was anything to play they had just moved to a new house and had only the basics moved in so we just took a soccer ball and went outside. playing soccer with him was pretty fun and after about 30 minute we sat down to rest. while i was sitting i thought "why doesnt he like to read" well something like that anyways so i asked him why and this was his answer. "because it boring and theirs no action." at that moment i relised the true reason he didnt like reading. His parents! i know for a fact that he doesnt choose his books but his parents do, but the thing is they didnt choose any books that make a kid love reading they chose interesting books like the magic tree house etc etc, but those books arent page turners so i made a promise to myself that i would take him to the library with me atleast once withen the next year. but its what he said next that was so funny. "i'd rather read comics you know any comics that are good?" the question he asked was something that i alone in my whole family was best suited to answer but i kept silent i didn't want make him an otoko he was still 8 and telling him about manga then wouldn't have been a good idea (plus if i had told him about manga like naruto, bleach, king of hell, dragon hunter and the other shounen manga you'd usually find at any barnes&nobles he'd eventaully find out about ecchi and he's the type that cant really keep secrets so he'd definately show it to his parents and i would be the one to blame)

this was probebly boring for you to read but of well.

Hey if you have the chance to make one of your famaly members a manga/anime geek, this would be the right moment, xD shape and mold him to your animegeeky-ness

And also, you need to tell his parents that he needs to choose his own books to read. On a personal note I was the same as your cousin, I didn't like to read cuz I had to read some boring books at school, after I found out about harry potter, cuz it was everywhere, I surprised myself that I could read over 300 pages in 1 day, when I used to get stuck at page 4 after half a day xD
