http://www.engadget.com/2010/06/14/slim-xbox-360-gets-officia l-at-299-shipping-today-looks-angul/
Did they really need to come out with this? It's not like the original 360 was big in the first place...
And unless there's no RROD on this thing, then it just goes to show that Microsoft doesn't have its' priorities straight like always...

I doubt they got rid of the RROD, it's the 360 signature feature after all.
At $299, it's still not worth it...

they had to give the audience a free xbox slim a la Oprah style because Microsoft knew that was the only way people were going to get it

Looks nice, but I'm only interested in Kinect. I've pre-ordered it today but if it come's with some crazy price then I doubt I'll get it. Also I'm looking forward to Fable 3 and Gears of War 3.

using kinect for racing games makes you kinda looks like a retard
If you shake your x360 slim during playing, it can damage the disc what a joke.

This proves that Microsoft really has it's priorities in a twist and because of this companies like apple and htc are waking all over them. I they don't shape up they won't be able to recover. their browser is seen as a joke and their windows phones are laughed at. the only thing they have going for them in the consumer market is Office, X-box 360 and windows OS mainly because any other alternatives are either rubbish or expensive.

Heh, and according to the recent articles instead of fixing the problems that causes the 360 to fail they just changed the way it's displayed. It'll no longer light up as a red ring of death (RROD) but a red dot of death (RDOD).
Not to mention the kinect won't work if you're sitting down, easily interrupted by other people/voice commands and a whole sleuth of problems that they're not too eager to disclose to the public. I see many injuries and crappy games in the future for kinect due to its restrictions from the players.
They should've invested in holo-deck technology instead of this fad.
*Apparently it still red dots like crazy...go figure considering they didn't do anything to the interior of the 360, they just crammed it inside a smaller case.

the normal x360 doesn't have disc stabilizers either... but not fixing that is a real joke.... oh well, i have a god reason to buy one, it fits on my shelf without my cat reaching it

Lol yah look at this guy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OdOjzuJByXg
Now they bluntly tell you not to move it since they are saying that it will with the new xbox. Apparently the disk stabilizers cost 25 cents each per console, and microsoft said that was too much. Shame on you Microsoft. Making us pay for extra disks, wi-fi, rechargeable batteries, and live.

The new 360 still has the same problems as the old one. It's just shiny... and shiny sells. It's only saving grace is that it has a built in WiFi. Which 360 should have it in the first place. This one is claimed not to get the RROD, but it still kinda does. When the system over heats like it did with a friend of mine, the system will auto shut down and display a warning on the T.V. Then the like power light on the system will start blinking red. When that red light stops blinking, that is when you can turn your system back on. It's a safety mechanism to keep it from dying. Still very frustrating...

Yeah, that's some bullshit and I bet we'll hear a whole bunch of stories of how people had to do things over and over again cause their 360s shit down...

well my xbox 360 just crashed after like 1 and a half years. Seriously though is it better to get a ps3?? I don't really care about the price difference and nor do I care about blue ray and all those other options. I buy the gaming console to solely play games, and thats it. And if you look at it purely from the specific games for each console, Xbox seems to be much better no?? I mean xbox 360 has got gears of war 3,bioshock 2(only for xbox right?) fable 3(heard its only for pc and xbox) mass effect 2, halo(new one might come out?) whereas the only game i would love to play on playstation 3 is god of war 3. So guys if you just look at it from just the exclusive games available for the respective consoles would it be better to buy a xbox 360 again?
