Do you have a love/hate relationship with Shoujo manga's? If you do what are the manga's that make you hate shoujo and what make you love it?

For me I hate Uwasa no Midori-Kun and manga's like Mamotte Agemasu

But what keeps me reading Shoujo are manga's like Suna no shiro,Auto Focus 1/2 Prince Dengeki Daisy ad Flowers of evil!

And I acutally do hate alot more than those two shoujo manga's but I hate those the most! And I put more shoujo's that I liked cuz I wanted to acknowledge those shoujo that stand out xD

I actually am in the same position as you. I'm not a shojo hater per se...maybe a shojo skeptic or something. But most of what I read is terrible and just confirms my opinion that shojo is just bad.

But when something truly wonderful like Dengeki Daisy comes along, the reason I recommend it to basically everyone and gush about it for hours is because I've found a diamond in the rough. (ZOMG it's so good even I like it! is what I say to only a few series)

These are series that give me the courage to give shojo another chance.

It is a love/hate relationship.

i like shoujo series where the girl and the guy naturally fall in love with each other. i dont like it when the super duper hot guy of the school somehow falls in love with the main character girl who's an idiot/dimwit/etc... nowadays i dont read very many shoujo titles. :/ it's hard for me to find a shoujo series where the girl is natural, cute, and headstrong.

You are like the dense main character in a shoujo manga.

I'm male so I'm not the target audience so I have no real right to say I hate Shoujo manga, but I do hate it. Like mentioned in the comment above its about a "super duper hot guy" getting the protagonist which has some character flaws, but still likely to be a hottie. It’s not supposed to be the reader relating to this male lead, but as I am one I can’t help it. Looking at the man I see someone who I wouldn’t like in real life and then when the protagonist likes this man I feel disgust. In all the Shoujos I’ve attempted to read that is what its about so in turn I hate it.

And it's funny how these characters are written so that female readers can symathize with the main girl and swoon over the perfecthotjerkass male lead. It's a problem with shojo, but I'll like the male lead if he is a realistic sympathetic well-developed character who I can root for.

I'm female btw

I like shoujo with no romance in them. The only shoujo mangaka who can write romance and not infuriate me are CLAMP (X , RG Veda) and Ono Fuyumi (Ghost Hunt).

Manga that make me hate shoujo ;

- All shoujo smut manga

- Every shoujo romance manga in this site's top hundred (excluding Ghost Hunt). And yes, this includes Dengeki Daisy , Skip Beat! , Vampire Knight , Kimi ni Todoke , Nana , He's Dedicated to Roses , Boy of the Female Wolf , Tokyo Crazy Paradise and many, many more that I couldn't be bothered to remember.

Manga that make me love shoujo

- Non-romance shoujo such as Himitsu , Doubutsu no Oishasan , Flat (AOGIRI Natsu) and God Child are absolutely wonderful!

And yes, I am a girl smile

;~; I agree with a lot of the posts.

I'm not a romantic person in general and irl I prefer hanging out with guys. So it's hard for me to actually like a girl character.

The girls either annoy the heck out of me...

Example:
Mars: Man, I felt like the main girl was whiny, controlling, nut job. I stopped reading at volume 7, but up to then, I never felt that she improved herself as a person. She kept trying to change the male lead. I honestly, I didn't understand why the male lead stuck with such an annoying girl. If this was real life, she'd be dumped in a heartbeat.

Or the girls are completely dedicated to relationships. They think that it's the most important part of their life. They tend to make a big deal out of nothing.

Example:
Koukou Debut: She use to be a star softball player and then boom? All she wants is to find a boyfriend? I liked her better in the beginning.

Honestly, these girls should be more independent. And stop being stupid and crazy. Looking at it from a guy's perspective, I don't understand how most of these girls can get a guy much less the hottest idol.

Hmm, I feel like I like shoujo manga where the romance is secondary. And the romance is normal paced. Haha, although a lot of times I see "D: this manga's pace is so slow" as comments to the mangas I like.

One of my favorites is Cat Street. I continuously sit around blindly looking for something that could match it.

So yeah, because of the lack of a good female lead I tend to like shounen manga more.
