Wow... this brings back memories... I was very embarrassed when I was younger because I didn't know how to answer the classic retort: "You still watch cartoons?" or "You still read comics?" I didn't have close friends, so I didn't want to tell acquaintances because I was afraid I would be looked down on. 16+ years old and still watching cartoons... that's normally considered very childish. However, I grew up, grew confidant, and realized that I don't really care what people think. I like what I like and that's that. I'm unique and screw the sarcastic and put down comments of others. If it's something that makes me me, and makes me really happy, I'll embrace it instead of taking the put down comments to heart from people who do not have such amazingly awesome hobbies as manga. A current friend of mine still comments a bit sarcastically about cartoons when I tell her about them... but she doesn't have any hobbies, watches too much crap TV, and is not as happy as I am. So why should I put myself down when in reality, I should pity HER? Anyway, more confident now and proud to say out loud:

I LOVE MANGA!!!
I LOVE ANIME!!!

Pfft. Everyone I know knows that I love manga.
Half my friends like it too. Haha.
I honestly don't care who knows, nor do I care if they think I'm a dork because of it.
(I know I'm a dork anyway~ lol.)

...I'm 16, and I know quite a few people in my age who read manga as well.

Also, as long as you don't read stupid junk like Naruto or Pokemon, people won't make fun of you.

Nope and some of my friends reads it, too. I used to bring my manga to school but I decided against it now. I keep losing them and one of them ended up in the school's library... none
