I want to read a really good manga romance. And the majority of the romance/shoujo manga I come across, has the girl either already in "love" with a guy (in most cases the popular guy at school), or is the type of girl that falls instantly in love with the guy at first site. I hate this kind of love, because it's only based on looks and popularity. I'm not saying she can't be with the popular guy, but she can't fall in love with him without AT LEAST getting to know him first. How can you fall in love with someone without even talking to them once? That kind of love is pretty shallow.

Anyways, enough ranting. I like a romance where the guy falls for the girl for her personality traits, same goes for the girl. The manga has to start off with them having little to no feelings for eachother, then the feelings develop as the series progress. Only like this, can a romance manga be really good!!

Oh, and the type of girls that blush too frequently (unless it's a nervous blush like Kaicho wa maid sama), cry too much, or is the type to cower in the corner, are pathetic, and I don't waste my time reading manga about those types. It brings shame to women everywhere.

Examples of the type of manga I like can be seen below....

Kaichou wa Maid-sama! (this is the main thing I want to compare it to, I love this series)
Dengeki Daisy
Gakuen Alice
Akagami no Shirayukihime
Ouran High School Host Club
Hana Yori Dango
Tokyo Crazy Paradise

etc........

Well, help me out here?

From Far Away They don't love each other right off the bat; its one of my favorites smile

Hot Gimmick Love, at least from girls side, develops slowly over time. ...The girl IS a little weak-willed though, but still a good manga smile.

Beast Master Also made by the same author as dengeki daisy, a little shorter but they develop feelings for each other slowly.

Penguin Brothers kinda...

I second Akuma to Love Song,Ashita no Ousama, beauty pop, superior

kimi ni todoke - he likes her because she doesn't give up.

Say I love you -she wants to know him well before she goes futher in the relationship

reimei no arcana- pretty much like Akagami no Shirayukihime but the guy was a jerk at first then he changed once he got to know her

auto focus - her mother remarried, so she and her step brother somehow develop feeling once they got to know more about each other.

beauty is the beast - she didn't judge the guy based on what other people and she get to know the guy despite what other people says.

Ingènuo

Miriam

these aren't well-known, but they're surprisingly good with strong, opinionated heroines. in ingenuou, it's a roller coaster; you seem them fight a lot but they really care about each other. and in miriam, she meets the guy as a kid and develop feelings when they get older.

These (never read Akagami, though), and while, it's technically not a published shoujo serial, there is a webcomic I know that fits that description, Love Lesson. And don't listen to what the author says, her artwork may be cute and sketchy, but it's not sloppy. XD. (The main girl-character does kinda blush frequently (and cry, she tends to get bullied by an annoying classmate...she has too nice a personality to say "enough", at least, as of now.)...but she's so adorable, it's easy to ignore it.
