Okay, I need help with my Japanese homework. The directions say to "Complete the following dialogue, using the appropiate question words." And the one I'm having trouble with is this one...

アジアけんきゅ うです

I'm not sure how to ask that in question form. Help?

I don't know any Japanese, but shouldn't that end with a question mark instead of a period?

In traditional Japanese there are no punctuation aside from that dot (which I can't remember the name of atm). That "ka" IS your punctuation (a ?). Nowadays though, they DO use our "!" and "?" but for one's homework I think using the traditional punctuation is most appropriate.

hmmm...what irks me is that this does not have any "question words" either. I would like to see what other sentences were given and how the poster answered those. In my book "question words" would refer to "どこ、誰、何 " etc.. か does not even qualify as a word, at least not in the grammar I was taught. My solution would look like this:

アジアの研究は 何ですか。

No idea if this is correct, as i find the whole thing rather peculiar. confused

Oh, and that dot is called まる (maru).

Ah, true. This gives me an idea though. The original poster really needs to tell us what his other solutions were like. I was assuming you had to alter the given sentence into a question using "question words" whereas your solution makes a question for which the given expression is the answer. Now that is a pretty common type in school work, so I am leaning more towards your solution than mine. eyes

Oh, at least we got the 何 correct.
It seems to be one of those questions where there's dozens of right answers.

But anyway, now that this is solved, back to hammering kanji into my head. dead

One tiny mistake, it should be せんこうは何で すか。
You missed the う. smile I hope it was just a typo and you didn't forget it on your homework... Teacher would mark off for that, most likely.
