Quote from Niban
It's kind of funny when some guys here say they don't like the manga but they're still reading because they started a long time ago. If you really don't like it stop reading it and wait for the final chapter (if you want to know how the manga ends)... That's what I did with LOST. I liked the beginning but then it turned out to be a mess, so I waited and watched the final episode. At least, I could save some time and watch other series.

Thank God for the recap and explanation episodes. Probably the best series I ever watched start to finish, even if the ending was bittersweet.

lol, this topic sounds more or less someone hating on another man's success. honestly there's nothing wrong with the series, it does it's job pretty well. plus it has a wider audience than most manga and anime. like you were told before it's popular for a reason, it survived so many years already, something must be going right. if your main reason for hating it is based on the Pein arc, then stop reading shounen in general. cause then it sounds more like you don't like mangas with lighter outlook on things then it's usual darker counter part of sennin. (i know that's not how they are all the time, but it sometimes falls into that optimistic/pessimistic kind of thing between the two).

Ah, I can sympathize with how you feel. When you start collecting a series, you feel a need to continue collecting even when it spirals downhill because you need to have a complete series. Ah, the agonies of being a collector!

This is what I do now, especially for shounen jump series by Shueisha (applicable to japanese raw only): 1. Read scanlations. 2. Judge if it's worth buying. 3. If you decide to buy, try to curb your urge to buy until the series ends (you can start buying if you absolutely can't stand it). 4. If said series ends terribly, may consider not buying it. 5. Wait for Shueisha's nice pretty kanzenban (the ones with awesome covers, bigger books, and pure white waxed paper quality) and buy the complete set. It's more expensive, but it's a collectible, and you can keep it without the pages turning yellow. I was rather frustrated when I collected Rurouni Kenshin because right after I collected it, the nice version came out. -_-" Don't try to do this with stuff other than shounen jump since they may just retire them off the shelves!

I'm glad I never started Naruto (manga). I used to be really obsessed when I started watching the anime (at first) but I soon gave up and naturally turned my attention to other stuff. Phew.

As to why most people still read Naruto, I guess it's the same answer as to why I still read Bleach: to see how it ends and unscrews itself. Yup.

If I stopped reading it now I'd feel as if i wasted so many hours and days simply reading the manga and watching part of the anime. I wish that back then someone had talked me out of starting it. I just can't stop now... My mind set now is simply to continue reading until i get totally pissed with how it's progressing or it ends. hopefully the latter happens faster. none

Finally! Someone who actually READ MY POST before posting.
I collected the entire series, when it was still good. I'm sure I represent only about 10-15% of people here who really bought the book.

I just had a coffee talk with another hardcore collector like myself. He also regret buying Naruto (and also Bleach and Detective Conan, thank God I managed to predict and avoid both from the start).

He said that the main reason why Naruto, sharing popularity with One Piece and Bleach, is because it is so easy to find the scanlation. The story itself, becomes less mattered. But I see some posters has mentioned it.

Anyway, I still beg to differ Naruto for being one of the better shounen manga. It is possible to make an enjoyable "ego-fighting power up" manga, like One Piece, Dragon Ball, Hajime no Ippo, Kotaro Makaritoru! L, Kotaro Makaritoru!, and Ashita no Joe. Those are few samples of great shounen, especially the last two. They are REALLY GOOD!. I advise you to read them as in, now!

Compared to them, Naruto has approximately the quality of garbage. To say Naruto it is good, just because it's a shounen is unreasonable. It is a shame how many shounen mangaka degraded the quality of their work, just to milk more money. Perhaps without the scanslation, Naruto would not get as much popularity, thus Kishimoto would not dragging the Sasuke BS. Ever think of that possibility?

PS: Comparing Naruto to Airgear is like comparing Miley Cyrus to Gita Gutawa.

And I hereby expressed my thank you to BakaSon, who flame me with every insults known to mankind. I printed your message, and it gave me and my friends a very enjoyable laugh which lasted for a decent amount of time. It really shows which one of us who really wasted his life on comic.

Edited for easier read.

I didn't realize this fact until I'm bored enough and started reading another action manga. Naruto's plot is common isn't it? why did I bothered to admire it? and why do you still treat it as a godlike manga I wonder. confused

I've gotten into the habit of waiting several months, and then reading a large chunk of it at once. Its more entertaining that way, and I don't spend as much time criticizing every aspect of it. I'm just waiting for it to end.

The latest volume, volume 49 just got translated and as I expected from the famous stupidiot retard known as Kishimoto, he never cease to amaze me every single time. When I thought Naruto couldn't be any idiotic, he shocked me with a whole new level of BS once again.

Still, I will continue reading it because I bought the entire series from scratch. This manga started way back when I was at my last year of highschool, when it was an actually good manga. I have graduated from college now and but this manga still going strong until today, so this manga has so many memories for me (at least the first 16 volumes).

Well, that's my story. Why do you keep reading (or better yet, buying) this pitiful excuse of a manga?

You have no right to bash this manga hell you cant even use proper grammer....... my point bieng you started this rediculous thread for people like you to dis 1 of the big 3 its not that u hate this series its that u along with many just are too inferior to understand the plot and yet u continue to read that which u hate?... IMO this is the best shounen out there and for all the people that say its cliche and overrated obviously cant comprehend the genius of kishi. The only thing remotely cliche about this series would be the training arcs so yeah ur all wrong and as for the length only a good mangaka could keep a story going and keep it interesting... the plot isnt random at all... and my fave about all of u who said the only reason this is in the top 3 was the easy RAWS.... FYI the reason they are easy to get is because of the high demand for this manga u moronic people who hate this manga cant even figure out that more people like this then dont..... also another fave is for every1 who bashes this series who says they havent even read it LOL haters are funny right..... last but not least if u dont understand y Sasuke is part of the big theme of naruto u shouldnt be reading it at all cuz clearly u have never heard of the concept of foreshadowing

Lemme guess the reading on that troll-meter, 8999 right?

Back on topic though, I liked Naruto at the beginning, as many of you did. And as many of you, I continue reading it to this day. As many of you, I also believe it sucks major fox balls.

There's no point in debating the decay in quality. It's obvious to any but the most mentally or chronologically challenged. Also irrelevant is the matter as to why it decayed so badly. Could be the plot, which seems to be taking the fast route to Idiotville, it may be the characters who took the plane ride over, or it may just be fatigue as most long-running series lose some of their air as they go on, and going as long as this one has it's a surprise it even has lungs... metaphorically speaking.

Why do I keep reading it? Simple, really: I decided I wanted to see how it all ends. That's it. All I need. And seeing as I am an idiot, I will continue reading until either it ends, or I get an aneurysm FROM THE SHEER AMOUNT OF STUPIDITY THAT GETS CRAMMED INTO MY HEAD EACH SESSION OF READING THIS GODAWFUL STEAMING PILE OF $#!% !
I find it inconceivable to even attempt to connect to ANY of the characters anymore, as their logic circuits seem to have blown somewhere during the time-skip. Sasuke turned from an emo fag into a downright retarded emo fag with a superiority complex and commitment issues (that's what you call trying to kill the only two remaining people on the planet who even give two pieces $#!% about him, right), and I mean no offense to the mentally challenged, as they have no choice in the matter as opposed to Sucksuke, master of all things emo, slasher of wrists extraordinaire, drama whore of titanic proportions, with the amazing (read: amazingly stupid) power of completely ignoring all females around him even when they're whoring themselves out to him; Sakura is even MORE useless than she used to be (it's amazing, given that she actually has a role now and still manages to fall completely and utterly to the sidelines), and Naruto is the flippin' messiah (get it? coz he's a ninja hurrr hurr) now. How does that even work? In the whole Pain thing some guys were saying they trusted him and his judgement and will follow what he has to say. I was dumbstruck. As I was regaining consciousness I wondered about some pretty trivial stuff. When the hell did that start happening? Why the hell did that start happening? And even more importantly, how did the ones who said it didn't end up skewered through the eyes for their idiocy?
There's just so much wrong and so, so, sooooooo very little right left in the series it's enough to make me WANT an aneurysm. Maybe then I'll return to being able to enjoy it. One Piece is really the only one of the big three that makes any sense anymore. But now I'm lapsed into this whole train wreck mentality: it's awful, makes me wanna kill some of my neurons just so the pain goes away, and like a real train wreck, people are dying because of it, a little on the inside at a time, but still I want to see how it all ends.
I WANT MY FREEDOM BACK! PLEASE, KISHIMOTO, PUT IT OUT OF ITS MISERY! Or else,at least stop the deus ex machinas if you want anyone paying any attention anymore to not suddenly keel over from being suddenly hit over the head with the "Plot Sledgehammer". It may be shounen and as such not require much in the way of the minor story elements, such as the plot itself, having any purpose beyond explaining why there are people beating the daylights out of each other, but once you start throwing in resurrections you know you didn't just jump the shark, you just hopped a whole ocean worth of obese Kisame-looking suckers.

Sorry about the lenght. Venting helps keep the hatred in check and all.

@ Monyet_Sejati I can see where you're coming from in terms of buying the manga. But then again you have only yourself to blame for that. The thing is though I think it's not the storyline that is the problem. It seems more like the pacing is to blame. Looking back at the story the fight between Naruto and Sasuke should've taken place years ago. If it followed the same pacing as One Piece does, then everyone wouldn't feel as frustrated. The same can be said for Bleach as well. When you look at their stories in one go then you can understad their populararity. It's just years of time spent on one story arc can drive people away, hence what's happening here.

Cause of the fights.
As of now, I could care less about the story.

Same thing with Veritas and Bleach.

Only active shounen story line I care about now is One Piece.

Do NOT even start with Bleach because I do not know wtf is going on with that series it just gets more gay as it goes along. I think for me the best bit of those two manga (Bleach and Naruto) are the protagonists "dark", powerful, powers. I definitely agree with you though, One Piece has the best storyline out of the three it never cease to make me laugh every chapter and that is what makes it fresh. Whereas, with Naruto, I just never find those so-called jokes to be funny. Bleach, way too emo to be funny!

For me right now my top three shounen manga would be:

One Piece biggrin
Beelzebub biggrin
Fairy Tail biggrin

I personally stopped reading it around the time Sasuke killed his brother/his brother died or w/e. Well a few chapters after that. Sometime around the Hokage meeting thing... anyways. It just got way too retarded and Sasuke was just becoming unbearable. I couldn't stand Sakura any longer, either.

Nowadays I mainly read (ok, WAIT~) for D.Gray-Man, Noblesse and Skip Beat. Although I don't think the last one (not sure about the 2nd one) would fall into the shonen category. ok so Skip Beat doesn't - It's shojo. But at least it's better than Naruto nowadays v.v

I honestly believe that even DGM is far more intriguing and interesting than Naruto these days. v.v

I think I got off topic. Whoops. Sorry.
