Sorry if there is a topic floating out there somewhere smile
By 'unlikely' I mean a princess that by no means resembles one. For instance, she is rough and strong, or isn't considered feminine, or would rather be out slaying dragons then looking for a prince. But there are many other ways it could be interpreted.
I like romance, doesn't just have to be with a prince or something, and I would like it to be shoujo, but am open to other genres as long as there's romance.
But the princess MUST be the main character.
Thank-you in advance biggrin

You want actual Princess' right?
Akagami no Shirayukihime.. Although she isn't really technically a princess (yet [hopefully])
Reimei no Arcana - Princess used as a sacrifice, not really treated well etc
Arcana - Japanese Style and Samurai - The Queen’s Dog by Araishi Ikkyou & Oshino Hikaru oneshot
Arcana - Prince and Princess
Angel Diary
Basara - "child of destiny" (technically a princess later)
Spoiler (highlight to view)
although once the prince and her get together officially he is no longer a prince...?

Maybe The Wallflower - haven't read it yet though.... rich young lady is almost a princess in today's world >.<

Thanks for the good suggestions smile I read a bunch of those already, but Basara looks really good, and so does Akagami no Shirayukihime

Hmmm, not sure if this qualifies your criteria, but since I've been reading this series, it immediately came to mind: Little Queen. Though the main character is technically not a princess by blood, the world in the manhwa selects "candidates" to be Queen. So there are no princesses; and in a way that makes the main character a princess. Though she is very un-ladylike as often mentioned by the other characters smile

red river
She becomes a princess throughout the manga, but stays very... unprincess-like until the end.
