female
i chose intellect because i enjoy intellectual people? loyalty follows after and then perhaps optimism, i'm not sure that was on the list though, but optimism is a big one for me because i'm really pessimistic and i need someone to kind of balance that out but not someone who's optimistically stupid, optimistic but realistic, not sure how to really describe it lol?

probably the best way to describe my ideal partner is perhaps someone i can highly admire and respect, as long as i have that with him, i don't really need crazy passionate love or intense sex, which i see as luxuries (although it'd be nice but it's not needed), as opposed to admiration and respect, which are kind of like neccessities. probably the type of relationship that i can settle into, relax and become comfortable with.

crazy passion and sex is really brief and not deep enough (lol) for my preferences

I'm male.

For me honesty is a must. Nothing hurts more than having your trust broken and nothing breaks it as hard as being deceived or backstabbed.

It happened a few times with me and it sucked big time.

I also like someone who I can talk with, you know, just being able to have a conversation for any amount of time without running out of subject.

Lack of respect also is a big no-no. Be it towards me or other people I find it awful.

Plus someone that don't mind that I'm a geek and a boxer =P
I find it funny and sad that the so-called normal people have prejudice against me because I'm a geek, and the geek people sometimes have prejudice against me because I'm an athlete =P

Kindness is the first choice for me. I just cant see myself with a curl person.

Next.... Loyalty? idk alot of choices honesty, similar hobbies, looks

idk... someone like me but not. Its cheesy but my other half i guess.

Someone who can act when i cant, yet someone who will always be with me...

She doesnt have to be someone everyone else sees as amazing or even good.
would most likely be something that is see that makes no sense..

Guess i don't know what i want.
When i have her i guess I'll know

Oh and I'm a guy.

I picked intellect, because i want to be with someone that is smart enough to to talk to and i don't feel like my IQ is lowered whenever they open their mouth. Also, someone that is really confident in themselves and works their ass of to get what they want and does not just complain about the way things are. Someone that is very independent, but with she is alone with me she is kind oh reverts to that kind, sweet, cute girl next door. I would also like her to have a sharp tongue, because i love it when a girl can outwit me and then flash me a smile and all i can do is stand there and smirk, or vice a versa. Sense of humor, some similar hobbies, and loyalty are all important too. Anyway yea a lot to look for, but hopefully i find her eventually

I am a male btw.

We'd have to get along really well.
I prefer similar interests, but our personalities could be totally different-- that's okay with me.

I'm kinda dorky even though I don't look it and sometimes it's hard to find people that I can share the dorky things that I like with. ;u;

No Respect for Me and a Tendency to Abuse Me

This one seems a little biased... admittedly I like a guy who's a little bit dominant/controlling...but this is not synonymous to "no respect." More like - if there exists a guy out there who is obsessive to death about me, but is a little insecure and pretends to be tough sometimes. ahh...cliched and wishful thinking.

a Sense of Humor

This is the one I voted for! More than a sense of humor, however, I guess the preference is for someone with a big smile and a wild edge. I like a guy who is a little bit intense somehow, and a little bit "bad." I love attitude, self assurance, and bright laughter. <3

a Short Skirt and a Looonnnngggg Jacket

lol!

Similar Hobbies

Big plus if he likes film fests, kite flying, baking together, and driving to random places to take photos! (well you said ideal mate, not actual mate...so unrealistic as this sounds....) We'd be partners in crime :3

a Specific Political Affiliation

Doubt this can be a deciding factor for many relationships...but I would probably rule out guys who have radically different views from me on issues I think are important.

Specific Sexual Interests

Definitely! Lots of passionate, whenever sex! Not the porno type sex though... >.> just too impersonal for me.

a Unique Style

Yesh! He's gotta have his own ideas and view of the world. None of that trend following, "pretend to be edgy" crap either.

Loyalty

On the other hand this is not big for me, and I don't understand the concept well. I would accept it if my partner cheated on me (I think) if he was open about it, and he didn't do it for love. However, a mutual agreement should be reached first because secretly fucking over your partner for personal satisfaction is just an asshole thing to do - the entire concept of loyalty aside.

Intellect

Another one I don't care for. I don't want a dumbass, but guys who are hung up on how smart they are annoy me. I guess it's important for a guy to be quick minded in some way, but he doesn't have to be motivated/working super hard for his own self interests like power or higher education. It just seems too selfish.

Quote from moritana
i voted love for animals and children, cuz if the guy doesnt have this, its really a dead end...
i dont really care abot looks since if i get to know someone, it becomes totally unrelevant- if i like the guy i always think he's adorable.
basically, im attracted to cute-acting funny guys that can make me lough, but with that ill probably need a smart, unique guy-friend for chatting smile

OMG i was so young and naive back then XD

let me rephrase that quote:
IF i ever get a so called "life partner", i'd prefer him without any particular need to have replicas of himself or myself running around a house sucking out every shekel from our bank account, and demand to be fed and changed.

animals? if he's the one to brush them , take them to walks, or clean their indoors poop.

the ideal guy would be someone warm enough to cuddle with at winter, but not clingy enough for me to have a nervous breakdown cuz i dont have any "me" time.

as for looks, i'll stick with anything goes. nice guys still transform to cute guys for me, even if in reality they look like ogres.

so you'r ideal partner is a confident, smart woman, with great fame, honest, kind, and pretty, loves children and animals, loyal and rich, who has no respect for you and tends to abuse you, all in good humor, while wearing a short skirt and a long jacket, shares your hobbies, has a specific race, political inclination, religious beliefs, and a specific sexual interest, and all that to be done in unique style.....

well, it looks like you're looking for a college professor/dog trainer, who is not ashamed of her S&M tendencies and shows it by coming to class wearing leather skirts covered with jackets, and she may or may not be a member of a secret group that plans on dominating the world...

to each their own, i guess.

Honesty is most important, both with me and with herself (I'm male). After that are kindness and similar goals/hobbies. Looks matter, but not as much as you might think, and not always in ways that are stereotypical. Loyalty matters as well, but blind loyalty would actually be a turn-off. I want someone who can see all my gifts and faults and choose me for the unique person that I am, and who also has enough personal integrity that I would want to choose her for the unique person that she is.

I said loyalty before, but I prefer "respect [for me]" (although it isn't up there). I think that would sum up everything.

oh, a male please.

You say this, but you certainly won't date a guy simply because he is kind and honest right? Like you expect these traits to exist, but would you date a guy if he did not meet up to your standards in terms of looks, personality, etc.?

I'm sorry but I just can't see loyalty and honesty as traits that really make a guy stand out from the crowd. There are lots of guys out there who can be "dedicated" or "nice" but does that mean they are worth dating? How would these traits make him interesting...
