I have the feeling this has been done before (I even think I did reply to that thread but I couldn't find it using the forum search >.<)
Basically, I'm looking for a main character that's more like a side character, for example, his best friend is the one who got super powers and does all the fighting, while he just cheers for him at the sidelines.
Or the side character is expieriencing the ups and downs of love...

It can be any genre, it should just feel like the story should actually be told from the side character's point of view...

Can't really think of any examples except for maybe Warau Kanoko-sama.
Or sometimes there are special chapters narrated from a character other than the main one...
So basically something along those lines.
Oh, and I'm not looking for something like Durarara! or Baccano!, where there are mutiple characters who would count as main characters.

I'm looking forward to any kind of suggestion

(Maybe someone finds that old thread I was referring to at the top - I really do think there was one - then this one can be locked and I'll just bump the other one...)

I did read that one some time ago, I think up to the part where she was sent to those princes and then I had to wait for the scanlations so I stopped, I'll pick it up first thing tomorrow morning and see for myself

Genshiken maybe? the main character feels like a side character

Ga-Rei would be a good one, I think. The main character is pretty much side-lined by Kagura, and you'd almost forget he was the main character by the middle of the story.

She's also got the powers and abilities. While he (Kensuke) has some, it's nothing compared to her.

Although the story line gets a bit frustrating, maybe it's what you're looking for.

Kongo Bancho - lots of action, funny too
Medaka Box - again, action and funny
Tiji-kun! - more action
SWOT - Action + comedy (new series)
Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro - completed series, one of my favorites, told from the point of view of one character but it's really about the demon.
Akaboshi - Ibun Suikoden - Axxed , but pretty much fits your criteria too.

I have read a bit of all of them and as far as I remember, the side characters you guys're talking about are more like main characters themselves...
It's a bit hard to explain: (this will get confusing now )
What I'm looking for is a main character, that's definately the main character (narrated from his point of view, inner monologue etc... - not narrating the story of someone else, HE's the main character, remember? ) who narrates the story.
And then he got this awesome supportive cast whos story is actually way more interesting than his (it can be two different plots, the story of the main character and the side character's one who get only get hinted here and there but would be way more interesting or they can be intertwined, but the side character should clearly be a side character.)
Some examples of side characters who are side characterish enough: Yureka (Ah-dol, Boromid)
NOT side characterish enough: Legend of Maian (Felicia, shes practically the main character ever since she got out of that sealing thing) Black Lagoon (Rock and Benny would be fine, Revy also pretty much became a main character...)

To sum it up, this is a pretty subjective request: just recommend me some manga with side characters who are clearly side characters whose story we get hinted at but never fully told and which is in your opinion more intriguing than the main characters story/point of view of the same story...
(if it's a long manga, please make sure it's not a side character who appears only in one arc, I want to have him/her appear throughout the whole story...)

If it's still not understandable what I'm looking for I'll have to give up, I just can't put it into words then...

EDIT: I FINALLY remembered a good example of what I'm looking for: Shina Dark
The side characters I'm talking about get a little bit too much of screentime to be considered side characters but I'd settle with that.
Their story of wanting to create a kingdom for everyone to live in is a bit more interesting than his story of just wanting to laze around in a big castle, right?
I know this is a little subjective but you should get the general idea.
