I'm in college but my english teacher still want us to define what "Happiness" is to us in a three page essay. How weird is that? So, I was just wondering what your makes you happy, etc.

emotional or affective state that is characterized by feelings of enjoyment, pleasure, and satisfaction. As a state and a subject, it has been pursued and commented on extensively throughout world history. This reflects the universal importance that humans place on happiness.

States associated with happiness include well-being, delight, inner peace, health, safety, contentment, and love. Contrasting states include suffering, depression, grief, anxiety, and pain.

I am happy after I go potty. That's usually the only part of the day I actually feel well-being, delight, inner peace, health, safety, and contentment all at once. I feel love all the time though because I listen to the Beatles a lot.

A bit more lyrical one:
A person is happy when he/she has a good balance of mind.
No stress or boredom. Also being able to interact with others
could be counted as one pillar to the roof of happiness.
Roof of happiness covers one from the rain of agony, but
the higher the pillars, the more it hurts when it comes down. smile
Happiness cannot be actually be explained on three pages
without making a list of things that make one happy.
Happiness is actually just happiness, it is so basic that it
not a large puzzle of different elements.

Mams!!! You gonna give me "happiness anxiety". I don't want the roof to come down on my happy potty time!

But my roof has holes and the pillars are being
sawn all the time. >.<
Only I and the aphyllous trees... T-T
I am happy when I can do what I want to do
which is to do nothing...
An impossible equation with the society.
Argh, I cannot write right, my fingers are so stiff,
I think there is snow outside. =_=

Neat-o! I wish I had snow! We only have heat. All the time and never snow and sometimes rain.

Mams ver of happiness is a type of "emo" happiness that comes from being happy and immediately lamenting that happiness because it is temporary and may only lead to a lack of happiness later.
Hooray for emo happiness!

Then there is the happiness of substance that
has been emitted by wealth, games, new cars,
homes, tools and even manga.
It is a strong happiness, because it can be
shared very easily, I have candy and give it
vinceasuma and he will be happy too. smile
If I just say that my grandma has a b-day,
will vince be happy? Well, he might send her a
ninjahug or two, but still that is from a different scale. smile

We are contributing to the discussion at hand, you know....It's not Mams' or my fault no one else has anything to say.

On that note, would being in the top 10 make you happy? That sounds like an emo type of happiness to me (see above)

Honestly i don't think i've achieved true happiness - i've been content and glad but never 100% happy about something. I think for me, my own happiness is what i do for others... if i am able to put a smile on someone's face, that's what makes me glad. Maybe i just need to make more people happy before i'm in that state completely.

Great god...I had to do an essay on "Does money buy you happiness" yesterday!

I think my definition of happiness would be the state of feeling at peace within one's self. Spending time with family, friends etc. etc. are factors towards happiness also. smile

You spend your entire life trying to find it, but in the end it's becoming clear to you, that you've missed most of the opportunities to be happy, or that the happiness was right next to you and you simply didn't notice.

Ergo: you can't make a definition of something that doesn't exist.

Say I'm a pessimist and I will bite your head off eyes

I think I would be happy if I had more money. I know this because I am not the type to go out and get into trouble and surround myself with drama, drugs, and the like. I would buy myself a pice of property, start my organic farm and buy some yopga videos and a bunch of Gundams.
Money could certainly by me happiness.
