Graphics.

Gameplay is overrated. Most of the games that have good gameplay have at LEAST decent graphics. Even then, you can imagine how much better it would be if there were better graphics. You can't be happy when your looking at 16-bit figures. (Personal opinion or general fact?)

Personal opinion. I still have more fun playing some 16-bit console games and DOS PC games than I have playing most cutting-edge console or even PC games. Atmosphere matters, but graphics are just one of many ways to create atmosphere.

Graphics don't matter to me unless they're horribly glitchy or take away from the game experience. And I prefer artistic graphics over "good" graphics.

Good gameplay makes an experience less frustrating and all the more enjoyable.

Story never really mattered to me because if you want story go read a book or something (and that's why many game to movie or game to book adaptations fail.)

Usually a game with meh graphics will be good if I'm immersed in the gameplay (Ocarina of Time for example)

Gameplay
QuasarX i like the old dos games too, the old games had a good story and enjoyable gameplay despite the graphic. I really like Masters of Orion, and the Kryn triology.

good visuals, representation and story is great for games. Like the added bonus and insetive to play the "game".
However a "game" is a "game" and should remain that way. So gameplay is the masterpiece for me.
Games like metal gear solid i like, even though it is coverd in cutscenes they remember to keep the "gameplay" above standards.
However FF13....the only reason i play that is purely to watch the cutscenes and when i'am playing i'm only thinking...."how long till the next cut scene". That is no longer a good "game" to me because its missing a very important and key part to it. THE GAME!!!

It's easier to get used to bad graphics as opposed to getting used to bad gameplay.

I think, anyway.

neither, the key is fun

i've played games that have had good gameplay or it controls great and awesome graphics yet it sucked ass and was boring

and i've played games that have had either or both bad gameplay (still playable mind you) and not amazing graphics yet played for countless hours because it was insanely fun

I don't get it. Doesn't the "fun" we get from games come from the play we do on it?(The gameplay)

Well that didn't make much sense but what I mean is that for me, "gameplay" is just another word for the "fun" of games.

Isn't gameplay the obvious answer? Gameplay is part of the core. If the gameplay is flawed, for example, it constantly glitches then it hinders the overall enjoyment (e.g. Fallout: New Vegas). If that's not enjoyable why bother playing? Also, like others have stated the graphics are something you can get over.

Although Graphics mean a lot nowadays, if the gameplay sucks I'm not playing it.

If the gameplay is amazing and it has 8bit graphics, I'ma still play it. As long as the bad graphics don't interfere with the gameplay... Like Frameskiping, freezing, or random pixels blocking your view, then its all good wit me.

Studios should aim to achieve a decent standard in both realms, if you ask me. Video games are an interactive as much as visual medium.

Game Play. Graphic is only for other games like Dating Sim.

Can I say both?, graphics hooks you and gameplay makes you want to continue playing the game.
