i would agree with the guys sayin its gonna be someone from the New World, and defs disgree with those suggestin perona even as a maybe cos yeah she would clash with brook plus she seems to whiny for my tastes.

i like to think that they would go for balance so prolly another devil fruit user, as there are already 4 with devil fruit powers in the crew of 9, so to balance the 10 i would say hopefully another devil fruit user maybe logia type?

hard to say tho as what would their role be on the ship as everyone has a defined role and it looks like all the bases are covered. maybe a jack of all trades? but that doesnt seem in oda-sensei's style

from my guess, i think not any of the character we've seen so far
people like hancock, ghost girl, jimbei, bibi, buggy, etc... are likely to help luffy out to fight the last major battle of the manga
i was actually predicting smoker and tashigi like 200 chapters ago, lol

but i think since one piece is going to go on for awhile now considering stories starting out fresh with luffy all grown up, so i think they got plenty time for at least 2~3 more characters to join

i mean we got a captain , swordsman, navigator, marksmen, cook, doctor, archeologist , engineer, and a musician... i cant think of another profession needed on the ship.
maybe a painter or a janitor?? lol... but seriously i do think so, i mean it works well if he can fight as well... since oda likes to make his characters well rounded

Hmm, how about a writer? Basically, someone to document the travels of the crew. But nah, Robin would likely fit that role already. Hmmm...Usopp is already something of a jack-of-all-trades, no? He can paint, fix up ships, sharp-shoot, and now maybe even manage a little hand-to-hand combat. Franky is already a technology-oriented crew member...Chopper's already the cute mascot type...

How about a merman? The crew tends to pick up a new member for each place they go to, and the next place is Merman Island. A merman would be very different from any other crew member so far, and the ocean under their ship hasn't really been explored yet. Oh, or maybe a mermaid. A female with strong hand-to-hand abilities would be a new concept in the series.

Maybe a pet? Like Laboon

Honestly, I'm not a fan of the idea of a brand new character becoming a Strawhat. The crew, as small as it is, seems pretty much complete, especially since everyone got stronger during the timeskip. Like farkenell said, I like the idea of people joining Luffy as his allies for some cause rather than literally becoming a part of his crew.

As for someone filling in the 10th spot on the crew (f you don't count the Thousand Sunny as the tenth member), the only character I have in mind is Coby. He's also probably trained over the time-skip with Garp and Helmeppo to develop his Haki and his rokushiki abilities. I mean, why else would Oda have us know that he became capable of wielding the color of observation? And I'm sure he has doubts about whether the Marines suit his taste on what "justice" is, especially after the Whitebeard War. Depending on who succeeded Sengoku, Coby may have incentive to leave the marines and become a Strawhat.

Damn... forgot about that... I doubt he would form an alliance or have a huge fleet like Whitebeard... he wants to find One Piece off his own bac. After all to him it's just a huge adventure. Rememeber when Rayleigh is formerly introduced back at the bar and Usopp goes to inquire about whether One Piece really exsists and Luffy flips at him saying: that he doesn't wnat to know whether it exsists... it isn't the kind of adventure he wants.

Anyway, the new member of the Straw Hats would have to compliment alll the current members abilities, I'll place my bets on them meeting someone in the new world.

i think a merman or mermaid fit in with the crew cause them being a fish doesnt clash with the other characters

Since Boa Hancock is out of the list now my only guess is a new character they will meet in the new arc. Maybe in this one before they leave the island or when they are in merman island and find a merman/mermaid for themselves or other.

I only can guess this because Luffy said he wanted 10 before go to New World and that is in the next door so...

jimbei and perona doesn't really fit so im hopinh the last crew member would be in the new world

Jimbei would be a very good addition with him being a merman and all but i can only see him as one of Luffy allies just like the Kuja pirates .

But if there really will be a new addition to the crew, i'm hoping it would be a female crew member to kinda balance out the crew

i believe it's someone introduced before.. How about mr.2, he's already been goodfriend with Luffy, if he's still alive then most likely he's not in impel down right now.
But i think the new crewmember should be a girl! I want a girl!
I vote for Perona than Caimie, i want a strong girl not a weakling.
