Hey guys...well me and a group of my mates were thinking of playing a horror game together. The aim being well just fun and to see who gets scared and what not. Can you please suggest games that would scare the living shit out of anyone?

Age group-->19-24

Console-->either playstation 3 or xbox 360

I have heard about fatal frame, fear and dead space already.

EDIT: We are not playing co-op. Just rotating the controller giving everyone a go

Left 4 Dead comes out on console..right?
If not, any of the resident evils would do.

Well... in terms of multiplayer horror games, there aren't much, you have either Left 4 Dead 1/2 or Resident Evil 5 (which feels more action than horror). If you don't mind rotating the controller or something then there's Dead Space, F.E.A.R 1/2/3, Condemned 1/2, and Alone in the Dark. Aside from those... kinda drawing a blank... lol.

This idea is fundamentally flawed. Playing as a group, you won't get scared. That's just how it is.

Thanks for the suggestiong guys. Well yea we are rotating the controllers sorry should have been clear about that, we actually not gonna play the game as a co-op. Last time we did that for Fear and some people did actually get scared so dunno about that xombiecorp smile . Left 4 dead and left 4 dead 2 have played already, didn't find it scary at all was more actiony than anything, Thanks lnc411 will look up alone in the dark and condemned

no, i haven't played a game scarier than dead space. All the resident evil, left for dead and whatnot series doesn't even come close. Trsut me ...when you see a shadow run across the wall infront of you and you turn around to only to see nothing whilst cotiously moving like a snail, wilst having your nerves shot. You will understand what a scary game is laugh The wanting of survival.
Oh and if you want it scarrier, The standard options are (hard mode + dark room).

Dead space is miles scarier then any suggestion here. Sorry guys, If you play dead space for the first time...you'll love the intro. laugh
Yes, this game can scare a group of people. If they are helping you navigate.

Left for Dead 2

Fatal Frame is only a group game if you have one person at the controls and the rest to scream loudly behind you. ( Keep only a max of 2 people with you.)

To be honest, guys. Left 4 Dead 2 was not as scary as Left 4 Dead.

I'd seriously recommend Fatal Frame, though, if I'm not mistaken it's not available on any of the platforms that you suggest. It is by far though the most scary and least action oriented of the games suggested.

Dead Space is also good. Its dark and monsters pop up everywhere but I think just the popping part gets some what repetitive. The atmosphere is rather good though.

To all those who have recommended Resident Evil and Left 4 Dead I'd just like to point something out: Just cause it has Zombies in it doesn't make it scary. The horror of fighting for survival is not the same as being afraid of the dark.

So what you really need to play is something out of the Silent Hill series. And to the platforms you are asking for Silent Hill: Homecoming should be adequate even if it is not the scariest of the bunch it is at least creepy enough to qualify.

And I think Alan Wake deserves an honourable mentioning. Its not that scary but its good writing. Somewhat. =)

I know that you were referring only to ps3 and x-box 360, but I would highly recommend adding some PC games as well. I think that these suggestions are mostly cross-console, but I'm not sure.

Amnesia: The Dark Descent
Penumbra 1 and 2
Call of Cthulu
Condemned: Criminal Origins
Silent Hill 2
Dead Space (it can get a bit repetitive, but still a good play)

If you want TRUE horror games, you must play Amnesia, Penumbra 1+2 and Call of Cthulu. Trust me, you will not regret it.

Someone recommended Silent Hill Homecoming. To be honest, I think that SHH is merely a decent horror game.

Silent Hill, Resident Evil, F.E.A.R and I think Dead Rising?
