I'm looking for a manga with a heroine with a large scar like Tokiko from Busou Renkin, Tokine from Kekkaishi, or even Ako from Mahou Sensei Negima!.
Something with Romance.
NO manga with tragic endings (something in the tragedy category is fine but not in the end e.g. IO is fine), NO Yaoi.

doesn't really help because I'm looking for a scar anywhere (the best stories are of ones on the back or chest)

Quote from Sagaris
does it have good romance?

I already mentioned this.

VERY slight hints of it, but other than that, not really.

Agreed. The art is beautiful, and the concept is original. :]

not what I'm looking for, more of a basic scar, caused by some wound, not defect.

I second Sankarea and add Neon Genesis Evangelion. Misato Katsuragi has one but she's not the protagonist sorry

Her scars are from when her house burned down.
