I'm looking for a manga where the protagonist is either blindly devoted to someone else or has the blind devotion of someone else.

What is blind devotion? It's when someone lives their entire lives for this one person, and everything they do is for this person, and everything they think or feel is about this person. It's complete, utter devotion from morning to night... In every thought, every breath, every instant...

Must be: INTENSE and almost insane devotion, like... abnormally deep devotion. "I'd erase everything I am or ever was for you..." Yeah, that kind of devotion. And it must be PROVEN devotion, not just theoretical devotion - there has to be some actual action or selfless sacrifice to prove that they put this other person ahead of themselves even in a life-or-death situation.

Doesn't have to be: Romantic. In fact, I'd prefer it if it wasn't romantic, but I'll grudgingly accept romance, as long as the devotion is truly blind and not possessive at all (possessive devotion is not total devotion, since it still places one's own self-interests ahead of the other person's). So the only romances I'll accept are the "if you love someone, let them go" type of romances, where the devotion is not possessive and is proven to be so. Scenarios where blind, non-romantic devotion is possible include: friendships, master-servant dynamics, parent-child pairs, sibling pairs, etc.

Definitely must NOT be: Ecchi, harem or smutty manga. Mature content is okay, but not pointless fanservice and definitely no ecchi sensibility, please! Harems are also to be avoided.

Examples: Gil's blind devotion to Oz in Pandora Hearts; Rayflo's blind devotion to Cherry (I'm sorry - Charlie) in Vassalord; Altojin's blind devotion to Olsbolt in Crystal Lord Opera (eventually romantic, but initially non-romantic, and non-possessive even after the romance has set in - and yes, it's proven to be non-possessive, as she accepts his relationships with other women and even helps him in them); Misaki and Kuroe's mutual devotion in Blood Alone; Michelotto's blind devotion to Cesare in Cesare. As you can see, the PROTAGONIST is always involved in these pairs, either as the devotee or the one who has the other party's devotion.

More like these, please?

Thanks in advance! smile

I live to please the masochists of B-U. Which possibly makes me a bigger masochist than all of them. laugh

Thanks for the recs! I haven't read the second one - will check it out! Completely agree that Dengeki Daisy has blind devotion, since the male protagonist is literally willing to risk his life for the girl even without her knowing who did it, which is pretty selfless and non-possessive, I think. smile

Witch Hunter might be a manga your intrested in. The main charactor is devoted to getting his sister back, even at the sake of his job and life. The entire manga has him trying to find her, and defeating anyone who stands between him and her. Then many of the side charactors show good development, among other things.
Also its not romance or fan-service based.

Someone else could probably give a better discription, but yea....thats mine. Just read a few chapters if your curious. Might like it.

Well, Count Cain and GodChild are the only ones I can think of. I know I've suggested this manga to you a dozen times in other posts, but Riff and Cain's relationship fits here so well that I simply could not pass up on a chance to mention it! smile

For the sibling love, I'd say Night Head Genesis (anime). The older brother rejects his girlfriend's proposal to run away with her in order to protect his younger brother.

Btw, the manga recommended by hszd is Lucifer and the Biscuit Hammer (Hoshi no Samidare). Just thought you should know so you don't get confused searching for it biggrin

Edit - I'm not so sure about this, but Shirogane no Ou sort of fits. Okay, so it's more loyalty than devotion; and I wouldn't call it 'blind' at all...but the mercenary / bodyguard is surprisingly selfless in his attempts to protect the king. (This becomes even more obvious in the sequel.) It's rather sweet, really ^^

Edit #2 - I totally agree with ShadowSakura's recommendation of Noblesse. Can't believe I forgot to mention it myself!

Immediately got me thinking of Blood +.
The Saya x Hagi relationship.
He'd kill and die for her. Leads no life when she's asleep, just waits.

Noblesse - Frankensteins master was away for over 800 years and Frankenstein is still devoted for him, even trying to make the ultimate ramen for him
kuroshitsuji - agni was saved by souma and since than he is his very loyal butler
nurarihyon no mago yuki onna and zen are really devoted to rikuo.
fushigi yuugi there is some blind devotion, and there is even a minor character who dies for the one she loves despises the fact he always used her
akuma to love song maria is devoted to anna, she even spoke for her after she lost her voice
plant doll the owners of the plant dolls are totally devoted to them

Gunslinger Girl it works for pretty much almost all the characters there.
I also think Rosette's devotion to his brother in Chrno Crusade is quite blind, but I can understand if other disagree on this one.

The Voices of a Distant Star - though strong romance. Not sure if it fits exactly what you want, but I think it's worth mentioning.
Hitsuji no Uta develops into this - although it's an extremely unhealthy devotion.

I second Hoshi no Samidare and Gunslinger Girl.
