I asked a question similar to this earlier, but didn't get any satisfactory answers. so I thought I'd try for something a little different. Basically, I'm wondering if there are any manga (especially shounen, but I like all genres) where a character like Sesshomaru is the male lead. Thanks.

If you're not getting any satisfactory answers, it might be because most people have no idea what you're talking about. Perhaps you should describe the character you mean, because I've never heard of Sesshomaru.

Many of Sesshomaru's innate abilities are a result of his lineage, being the son of two extremely powerful demons. Naraku has referred to Sesshomaru as "the perfect demon"; the natural 'completion' of Sesshomaru's demonic aura may be the reason why the Shikon Jewel appears to have no effect on his demonic abilities, and thus would explain why he has no interest in obtaining its shards. In contrast, nearly every other sentient demon, save those affiliated with Sesshomaru's father in some way, seek its power relentlessly.

Sesshomaru is Inuyasha's half brother in Inuyasha. I'd say he was the strong, silent type, that is very cold to everyone. Even towards the rare few that he's close to and likes, he shows very little emotion. He's very calm and collected, and rarely loses his composure. Well, I'm not sure if this is entirely accurate since I never read the manga and he might have changed, but this is how he was up to the middle of the series.

The reason I didn't bother describing him was because in my experience, suggesting a character based on only a description often ends up with a dissatisfying answer, and I didn't want to mislead/confuse people who already knew who he was. Of course, if a character isn't well known, you may have no choice but to describe them, but in this case, Inuyasha was popular enough that I figured most people would know who I was talking about and the ones who didn't, wouldn't bother answering this thread. Thanks for taking the time to answer though, even though you didn't know who I was talking about.

Not sure if I can think of anything that's an exact fit, but if you're looking for a cold-hearted protagonist with a grudge against his family, you could try Kaze no Stigma

hmm.. try Kuroshitsuji if you haven't yet. Ciel is the main character and he is pretty cold toward sebastian and the others. Ciel isn't a demon but sebastian is and he is also like sesshomaru, cold, powerful.

he's not a main character, but ulquiorra from bleach sort of fits.
if you're looking for a main lead that's like sesshomaru, i think checking the seinen genre is a good idea.

Thanks for the suggestions . . . I've read Kuroshitsuji, and I love it, but it's not exactly what I'm looking for. Sorry this is such a difficult request.
Actually someone like Sasuke from Naruto might also work . . . I don't know, though, I've never read it.

Ok. I didn't want to be specific because in reality, I want all the qualities from him, but I guess if I had to pick I'd say:
Doesn't speak much
Super powerful
Self-interested
Protective of at least one other person, like Rin and Jaken (not a necessary one though)
Doesn't affiliate with a certain side (i.e. the "good" side, or the "bad" side). In this way, Ciel from Kuroshitsuji fits very well.
Sorry if this is too many or too specific or something. Someone like Jellal from Fairy Tail would also work.

for the cold and powerful part, i think Mononoke suits somehow. Well, the description is too short, but in the anime he seemd really cold
...somehow Death Note and Code Geass are also manga which came in my mind. They have the "evil" male lead and the rivals are a really big thread for them
i think the character sounds like some seme. I´ve seen some really cold, selfish and sometimes jealous seme

I loved Death Note, but again, not exactly what I'm looking for because Light is clearly on a side, and I want the character to not pick sides, or to not care what side he's on. Someone who the words "good" and "evil" don't really apply to, because they act only in self-interest; it doesn't really matter to them if their actions help or harm other people.
So far, the suggestion that's come closest to what I want, I think, would be Kuroshitsuji
