So I've spent a lot of the year reading more serous manga but lately I've been reading some romance/comedy/school life manga and have really enjoyed it.

Problem is I've gone on a binge and have read most of them. I still want to read that type so I'm here to ask 4 a bit of help biggrin

Here's some of the ones I've really liked lately
Zero In
Baby Steps
Countrouble
Sankarea

And some of my all time favorite manga are
Berserk
Angel Densetsu
Ares
The Breaker
Gantz
The World God Only Knows

So any recommendations of school life manga would be helpful(my favorite type is martial arts or sports but not many left for me to read)

I've noticed a few that have school life elements but are not listed as such so those would be the best to recommend if you can

I am,however, still looking for quality manga so anything that you might think I like would be fine

plz no shojo/gender bender

Although they're technically Shoujo, both Saruyama! and Dengeki Daisy are both really good stories that don't really read like Shoujo.

I think quality can transcend genres (good characters/story/interesting setting - I don't mean super amazing just well done)

and sometimes categorizing something doesn't accurately represent a series (best example would be the thin seinen/shounen line that gets blurred)

so I'll give it a try

appreciate the suggestion's If I like them I like them (hopefully not full of shojo cliches, not that I'm a big fan of shounen cliches either)

@Comel

sorry kinda seemed like an elitist their dead (I'm not, anything from echi (rosario + vampire) to seinen (Parasite) is good for me)

and ya thats good (the author is one of my guilty pleasures in manga) biggrin

I never really pay attention to mangaka. But after reading what you just wrote I checked it out and I too have enjoyed many of that particular author's works. Still haven't gotten around to reading her most famous work though. I plan to, but since it's completed and has a boatload of chapters I'm waiting until I catch up a little with my current reading list and then I'll burn through Ichigo uninterrupted (by other manga, life will still get in the way).

@devioustrevor

I don't usually check out mangaka either (I couldn't name you one off the top of my head)

Its usually a last resort to find something like a select manga (I find the recommend list are usually the same for a lot of manga)

When I first started using this site I used the recommended list a lot but eventually found (like you) that most of the recommended lists seemed to be recycled and the lists were filled with manga that really had no tangible connection to the original manga who's page I was on.

I have found that using the mangaka's page to be much more helpful as if you really like one manga from the author you'll usually enjoy others as the quality of the art and stories are usually just as high from one to the other.

Well I'm not sure what you mean by quality(drawings, story etc). Well I'll try to impress you, heres a list. They don't really involve school, but it's in there.

Beelzebub - This one should fit to your liking a lot
Yasashii Sekai no Tsukurikata - I really like this one, but chapters come really slow.
Sora no Otoshimono - Manga/Anime are both good. They follow the same storly like. Contains ecchi and lots of comedy.
Seitokai Yakuindomo - Comedy. I like the anime as well too.
Tasogare Otome x Amnesia - Mystery
Kimi no Iru Machi
Hayate no Gotoku!
Fortune Arterial
Bakuman

@Luminous Sorry about the slow reply

I'm not a stickler for "well" drawn manga (I do prefer the new style to the 80's but by quality I just mean plot, character, detail ect)

Beelzebub - It is very much to my liking, young definitely on the right track

Yasashii Sekai no Tsukurikata - This is exactly why I love forums, I would never find this if not for people recommending it to me, thank u very much (hopefully updates pick up)

Sora no Otoshimono - I like this series (haven't watched the anime tho)

Seitokai Yakuindomo - Weird,I remember looking at it b4 and turning it down...I can't see why now (maybe the slice of life label?) thank u very much

Tasogare Otome x Amnesia - Like it already

Hayate no Gotoku! - One of my all time fav (biggest problem is whether 2 follow the anime or manga)

Fortune Arterial - Found the anime awhile ago, is the manga better confused

Bakuman - Drama kinda made me wary (although I have heard good things) is it worth reading ?

appreciate the reccomendations I'll b checking them out soon
biggrin

@devioustrevor

The problem then becomes finding authors (maybe a similar author recommendation list would be a cool add on

You can sometimes find depth towards the bottom of the list but unless your new to a genre/manga its kinda useless (maybe it would b cool if you could set certain manga to be not on a recommended list.
