Can anybody tell me what the category Borderline H is all about, 'cause I can't find a definition or something anywhere on the i-net & I'm sure it doesn't have anything to do with borderline disorder (you know, the illness)...
Tnx

Borderline H means it's almost, but not quite, hentai. Hentai is kind of like manga porn.

Borderline H might be from nudity to depiction of sexual acts but there is no direct representation of the sexual organs.
Try futari ecchi and you'll se the diference

H manga is hentai, i.e graphically drawn sex (porn)
Borderline H basically means borderline hentai - sex without detail on the genital areas. It's nowhere near as graphically drawn as hentai.

borderline h has following definitions:
a) the work contains lots of sex, but not as the main theme (like believers)
b) the work is about sex-related themes, but not about sex itself (like nana to kaoru)
c) the work does mention sex and sex realted things very often, it´s the main theme of the manga, but the act itself never happans or is never shown (like b gata h kei)
this definitions are made of my own experience so i don´t know if they are exactly right

Something like Aki Sora (though this series can be arguable), where one of, if not the, main focus is sex in not-as-graphic detail.

.... okay
well, thanks everyone! You gave me some very clear and some very.. vague explanations, but I can make a picture now of what Borderline H is all about and... that maybe for a mostly-shoujoreader it's best to avoid this category

Hehe, 'Borderline H' = smut/echhi on steroids ... maybe sometimes even soft porn.
Funny that there even is a separate category for this, you'd think a combination of adult and ecchi would be sufficient.

If you've read shoujo then you've probably read at least one smut manga. Borderline-H is like smut, except the sex scenes don't end at the beginning or they're done in a hentai style rather than "shoujo-ish".
think "smut for boys"

Some pretty good definitions here. Question's been answered, so I'll lock this.
