Quote from LawX Kadabra-ght myself back to reality sooner. I didn't realize how I was coming off. I suppose you can say I've been feeling a bit Krabby lately.
Probably just the aftereffects of all that tentacruel rape.
At least it burns calories, presumably.

As I remember it, you were the one that enjoyed Rhydon Tentacruels to get a little Squirtle.

How is margarine "fake fat"? It's made from plant fats. It's no more fake than the fat in butter. As long as you eat margarine with no trans fat, it's actually healthier than butter because it has lower fat and cholesterol. But you shouldn't really be shovelling large quantities of butter or margarine down your throat. Everything in moderation.

It's hydrogenated, which is a trans fatty acid. Trans fatty acids have a correlation with LDH cholesterol, known as "bad cholesterol". It's the kind that increases heart disease due to plaque build-up in the cardiovascular system. Decreasing cholesterol is important, but eliminating it is not. HDH is the "good cholesterol" by the way.
There are some good margarines and many bad ones. http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/butter-vs-margarine/AN00835

I am aware of the existence of trans fats in margarine and the fact it's not good for you:
Quote from mogiks As long as you eat margarine with no trans fat ...
What I was objecting to was the fact Silent Howl called it "fake fat". I mean, how is it fake? Surely it's just a natural result of turning plant oils into margarine. Besides, as I (and also you) pointed out, not all margarines contain trans fat. According to Wikipedia, in the UK (where I live) there are no margarines which contain partially hydrogenated oils/hence trans fat. And the article you link to even points out that margarine has no cholesterol and less "bad fat" than butter, thus making it healthier as long as there's very little or no trans fat in it.

My IB Biology teacher does that diet. It's one of those all protein diets that's supposed to help you lose weight by preventing you from taking in fats and carbs. It works because protein is very hunger satisfying and filling, so you won't get hungry easily. Hot dogs are a bad idea unless they're 100% lean beef hot dogs. Stuff like eggs and turkey are pretty popular.
I don't usually go on diets because they don't work as well as the traditional exercise and eating healthy food. If you do stuff like cutting your food intake in half for a month or two, you can lose weight fast though you'll gain weight three times faster when you return to your normal diet. [You body gets used to the low calorie diet so when you intake more calories, the body tends to take up more than usual.] If you do plenty of exercise, sleep well, and eat healthy foods, you'd lose weight fast.
But going on a pescitarian, vegan, or vegetarian diet for a short period of time also works great. But it doesn't always work great for everyone. When my friend became vegan, she gained about 10 lbs all of a sudden. [though, she really did need that because she was 85 pounds at 5'4"] But I, on the other hand, lost weight since I became pescitarian.
There is no fake fat per se unless you want to consider chiral fat molecules or something as fake... Margarine has been proven to be good for you because many times it includes some essential fatty acids such as vitamins A and D3, though they can be unhealthy because they do contain some trans fats. Butter, in large quantities, is very bad but in small quantities it's harmless. But overall you want to go for the monounsaturated fats like the ones in fish [omega-3] and the essential fatty acids. Some of my friends have really bad type 2 diabetes, but they were able to control it just fine by having a diet that's high on protein and low on sugars and "bad" fats.

Quote from mogiks What I was objecting to was the fact Silent Howl called it "fake fat". I mean, how is it fake? I was explaining what he/she meant. Margarine is normally chemically altered to create the solid state that it's in. Where as, butter is solid, because it is over whipped cream.
Yeah, you can make margarine with coconut oil and sunflower oil by whipping it together, but depending on where one lives... it can be rare or impossible to find those ingredients or find a margarine that is not hydrogenated.

I would suggest that most people who want to do a diet cut out high fat foods (but not good fats like peanuts) and excise a few times a week. Eat lots of vegetables and fruits; they help keep your hunger away and are great for your body and taste buds. Foods that are high in protein and fiber are also good for you. I don't get your nutrition from vitamins or bars (unless suggested by a professionnal). Don't eat too close to bedtime. Eat small portions through-out the day, that'll speed up your metabolism, a bit like exercising.
Don't weight yourself too often because you can't controle your body, it'll play tricks on you, and depending on your personnality, you could get mentaly or/and physicaly ill if you calculate everything. Never eat to make yourelf feel better. Pills, drinks and really restricted diets won't work. You may sometimes have a small portion of something you like (that is not that good for you) because most people who don't do that can't stay on a diet and some end up gaining. Diets should be permanent not temparary. Lose only 1-2 pounds a week is safe.
This info. is from my father & my experiences in weight loss with a bit of general research. Hope I helped.

Don't eat unless you're hungry. Avoid sweet things. If it gets to two o'clock, you skipped on lunch and are hungry, don't eat; you won't want your dinner later. Don't skip meals unless you're doing nothing all day. Exercise. Eat healthily. Don't snack.
As for me, I don't eat sweet things regularly anyway, I don't snack and I don't eat unless I'm hungry. My weight stays pretty constant at a weight I'm happy with, so I don't diet.

In reference to my earlier posts, I just wanted to follow up to say that I lost 23 pounds slowly and safely over almost 4 months and dropped two pant sizes. I have been successfully maintaining my weight for 8 weeks now. My calorie intake is around 1850 per day and I exercise regularly as well, both running and free weights. It can be done You just have to make sure the changes you make to your lifestyle are permanent, because a return to pre-weight loss habits means a return to your pre-weightloss weight
