Not sure if it exists, but I am looking for a Transhuman / Posthuman manga or manga with said themes that are based on Hard Science rather than fantasy / Soft Science.

Ideally through it appears very unlikely, I would like find one that appears to have been inspired by the Dune novels written by Frank Herbert.

If such manga does exist, I would exclude those featuring Aliens, School Life, yaoi, Josei, shounen ai though I am not too fussed if it contains Gender Bender.

Ghost in the Shell is the classic transhuman manga. Gunnm is another worth checking out.

I have read both series (along with their related series) and other well-known series such as Akira through I was thinking of a manga that is perhaps not as well known.

I was thinking of something along the lines of either, a main character eventually evolving from a Transhuman to a Posthuman or from a Posthuman to a Posthuman Deity.

Blame! maybe? I think I know what you have in mind, but it's quite difficult to find a manga like this...

Thanks for the suggestions, people.

Hanae, I know what you mean on the difficulty of finding such manga, I actually surprised that there is so little hard science Transhuman / Posthuman manga available, what with series like GITS, Appleseed, etc.

What I had in mind story wise, was a series that is mostly set on Earth rather than Space.

The plot would be about a moral and spiritual division regarding the Humanity's future, on one side are a group of Transhumans / Posthumans who see Humanity's evolution and future in outer space as a positive thing, secretly guiding Humanity towards that end.

However, they find themselves in bitter conflict with a VHEMT-like misanthropic (anti-human) group of Gaia / nature-worshipping Parahumans (the latter having a Demonic / Zoanoid / Beast-like appearance), who believe that Humanity (along with all Earth-born non-Parahumans) should be confined to Earth and be made to quietly fade away, in order to make the Earth pristine and whole once more.

Though its highly unlikely, it would be great if I can a manga with a similar story.

Well, none of these are exactly what you want, but X, Moon Child, Animal X, Planet of the Beast King, Kamui and Please Save My Earth have inklings of the kind of theme you're looking for.
