Ok, this first request is actually for my dad. Now in this huge otaku head of mine, my dad is actually asking me for something thats outside of my expertise. I'm not really an all around genre type of guy anyway.

Current shows my father is watching: Naruto, Bleach (ya, i know....)
Series he has already watched: Busou Renkin, KenIchi: The Mightiest Disciple, Law of Ueki, Guyver, Yuyu Hakusho, All the Dragonballs, Black Blood Brothers, Witchblade, Kekkaishi, Zoids New Century, and thats all i can think of from the top of my head.

Step 1, my father doesnt do manga, so it has to be anime. This unfortunetely knocks down my ammunition by alot since I myself actually read/watch all forms. Whether its Visual novel, Dating sim, Manga, Light Novel or Anime.
Step 2, Hes only interested in Shounen Series. Oh, but NO GUNDAM or other Robot series. So now i cant even suggest any of the good gundam series or even Macross or Robotech.
Step 3, Nice battles. Some examples that my father really liked besides DragonBall was KenIchi: The Mightiest Disciple and Busou Renkin. Comedy is fine, however hes not big on Romance(The complete opposite of me).
This next one is optional as i told my dad that wanting this next one is kinda un-realistic, but my dad would actually like an anime series that finishes itself. My dad hates it when he ask me when is the next "Season" or Episode gonna start and I tell him "Ya.....read the manga". KenIchi: The Mightiest Disciple being a prime Example and Guyver. He refuses to do any reading at all. This makes me certainly sad since we actually do like some of the same things but i'm always going to be ahead of him. Well, can't win them all. My uncle's family on the other hand actually all do read manga. Recently the topic at hand me and my dad have been talking about was "WTF is with the BLEACH FILLERS!!!" My dad doesnt read the manga but even he knows random ass fillers when he sees it. At least Naruto tries to cover up "Most" of its fillers. As long as a series makes some attempt to actually hide their fillers, then i'm okay with that.

You dont actually need to read this next part, but just a little vending on my part.
I am so TOTALLY sure my dad would love Kateikyoushi no Hitman reborn, I want him to watch it even though the anime is actually done. BUT he doesnt want to get into it because its "TOO LONG". Same for One Piece.........."Dad.....What the hell man?" Hes watching Naruto and Bleach right now, so what the hell? He said he doesnt like One piece so i was like "Oh, so you seen a bit?" to which he responded "Ya, like half an episode". I wanted to strangle him.
End venting.

This next request from me. It can honestly be in the form of anything but if its hentai, I would really appreciate something other than a 1 shot sex scene. Ya know, if it has to be hentai, then at least one with a nice story or at least heart-warming, something with the warm fuzzies.

Gonna open up on a personal note first. Ya know those "Stereotypical" brother/sister relationships you sometimes see? The whole "Onii-chan" and "Imouto" thing. Well in all honestly, thats exactly me and my little sister and i'd like to see some more series with that. And I mean Hearts, rainbows and sunshine flower gardens. I spoil her rotten because I love her, she loves me back, giant hugs and all that. If my life was a dating sim, i suppose there would be the usual "Little sister" route and i would find out halfway through the route that my little sister actually isnt related to me and I was adopted or something.
But i'd like it to be at least somewhat important. For instance, Busou Renkin totally had that, but that was just an after thought, a side thing. It was an action manga/anime through and through.

So while in a sense, alot of shounen shows actually have that, its really more of a side thing when the characters arent like, in a training montage for the next big bad as far as that genre goes. I suppose the kinda of thing i'm looking for is more slice of life I guess, but like i said before, it can honestly be in any format and any genre. So I guess in the end, i'm asking for something that would give me the warm fuzzies. Heartwarming and all that.

Some of you may think it might be weird of me to ask for something that I myself experiance, but well, i'm already getting my romance story fix for now, so i dont really need to ask for that.

For your dad: anime; shounen; no mecha; and finished. How about Fullmetal Alchemist? I know the first anime of it is finished. That's the one that ended before the manga (since the manga wasn't done at that time) and the storyline went in different direction from the manga at certain points. I can't say more specifically because I haven't seen that one. The other FMA anime if FMA: Brotherhood. I believe this one follows the manga more closely, or at least, it has in the episodes I've seen. However, it isn't finished. I personally prefer book and manga adaptations to follow the originals closely, but your dad may prefer the finished one.

i know.. i watch all of them a long time ago, and so does tetsumaru's dad. and because it got weird ending, even though the rest of anime is pretty just, i hate it. that's why i suggest for his dad to read the manga instead.. none

All for your dad:
Higashi no Eden (there are three movies after it... but I think he should just end with the anime series and make up his own ending).
Death Note
Monster (intense thriller)
Darker than Black: Kuru no Keiyakusha (no need to watch the 2nd season... no questions get resolved...)

Seconding FMA: Brotherhood!! This follows the manga and has a much more satisfying ending (in my opinion), though the older FMA version is pretty impressive (and I got more emotionally attached to it).

No action, but interesting --
Hikaru no Go (who knew that GO could be sooooo intense!?)
House of Five Leaves (very slow, slice-of-life, non-linear story-telling). The art (to me) is very endearing, and I like how we slowly unfold several character's backgrounds.

Believe me, i totally want to take the TV away from my dad give him Manga to read lol(Had to try really hard not to word that in a way that sounds wrong). Its getting a bit annoying when my dad ninja's his way over my shoulder when i'm reading manga. The first thing he ask is "Is there an anime for that?". Its even more annoying when i read Bleach or something. He refuses to read manga but at the same time, has no qualms looking over my shoulder when i read manga. And he hates spoilers too....so what gives dad?

Hmm.. i've been meaning to read gunslinger girl. Although from some summeries, i always got that it was more of a Father/Daughter relationship kinda thing.

I am also reading My little sister can't be this cute, but thats really just for the comedy of it rather than something heart warming. I really liked Toradora though, I'm just trying to find a series that actually makes the Big brother loving Little sister dynamic at least a little bit important to the story. Or heck,at this point, i'm willing to settle for Big sister and little brother. Twins are a very grey area though.

Totally read Hikaru no Go lol. As well as Prince of tennis and Akagi and that bread baking series. I love those "out of the way" series.

It's been finished since July.

I'd recommend: Xam'd for your dad

Hunter x Hunter should suit your dad. Still continuing in manga, but the anime is complete unto itself. Same mangaka as YuYu Hakusho
Love this series. Don't forget to watch the OVAs.

Is D.Gray-Man finished? I think the anime is, but haven't watched the whole thing yet. Might work.

Shakugan no Shana should work too. I'm currently watching it myself and it looks like a good fit. Don't know how it ends though.

I like Hikaru no Go too, and it might lead him into other genres. On the other hand, it is a rather slow building anime, so...?
What about sports anime. Lots of those to choose from.

I prefer FMA: Brotherhood myself. Forgetting the whole idea that it is actually follows the storylines of the manga I felt that the original was far too depressing. First there was the whole thing about Rose being raped by soldiers and left with a child where she can't even be sure who is the father and then the ending that has Ed being banished to a parallel dimension to bring Al back and then on top of that Al comes back as a 10 year old and doesn't remember anything after the failed transmutation of his mother so he wouldn't remember all the friends they made on their journeys including Maes and the other people in the Army. Or that his father did eventually return home. Sure Windry, Auntie and them could fill him in, but everything would be stories, not memories.

Tried to get my dad to get into other genre's multiple times. Dont think its possible now. I loved Hikaru no Go, hes not budging on that. And unfortunetly, Shakugan no Shana would not suit his taste at all since it sprinkles in a fair bit of Romance. My dad actually liked Ranma 1/2(Hell he introduced me to it) before it got all romancy.

My dad's thing about the whole Romance thing is that it will make him grow woman parts........ROFL. I myself am fairly big on Romance and all too often I hear my dad asking me "Watching another Chick flick anime? Reading another chick manga?"(All in good fun though ofcourse.)

He also didnt like Tenchi Muyo either. Also, i just found out my dad actually did watch Full Metal Alchemist. Twice in fact. He's never heard of Brother hood though. Tried to get him into Full Metal Panic, but he complained that it was a Slice of Life story with sprinkles of "Fake" action.

Seriously dad.....Although i have a feeling I could talk him into One Piece when Naruto or Bleach finally end. But that probably wont happen for a while. And when it does, One piece will probably be at around 600 episodes or something.
