I want a manga that has a main character with a larger than life ambition (think Code Geass and Death Note) and the means by which to make it come true... once again, Code Geass or Death Note is a perfect example. I prefer intelligence and leadership ability over magic powers or some such, but I'll take what I can get.

Also, a touch of romance never hurts.

Thanks a ton in advance.

Also, it doesn't have to be on a global scale like Code Geass... just think big.

Fullmetal Alchemist has two brothers (and many other alchemists like them) who seek to create the philosopher's stone... it's pretty epic. And they're not anti-heroes. biggrin

Maybe Cesare... though we know from history that it doesn't work out for him.

Zennou no Noa would be a good read,
it's really, REALLY similar to the two examples mentioned

Cesare I'll check out. Sorry, but FMA isn't at all what I'm looking for. Still, thanks for trying. (Not that I disliked it, its just not what I have in mind).

I've been reading Zennou no Noa, and I agree. That's exactly what I'm looking for.

Is conquering the galaxy big enough. Legend of Galactic Heroes, one of the mains goal is to rule all of mankind. As for intelligence most of the plot is the two protagonist trying to outmaneuver each other on the battlefield.

Lost+Brain Though I didn't like it, it's pretty similar to death note.

Kuroshitsuji

His only reason for living is to avenge the deaths of his parents and kill the people who tortured him and sold him into slavery (he made a deal with a demon in order to do so). Not a lot of magic, per se, but he is very calculating and manipulative.

He has a fiancee, but as it's an arranged marriage (she's his cousin), there isn't very much romance (though he does genuinely care for her). There is some shounen-ai subtext, though

Usogui and Sanctuary look interesting, I'll check them out.

I've heard a lot of good things about Kuroshitsuji, but I've always neglected it. Maybe it's time to check it out.

Once again, thank you for your suggestions.
