Started reading Dragon Ball as a kid.
I just say it at the library, read it, like it, and continued.

I needed to catch a school bus to go to my new school, when I transfered in 2001. The school sucked, but thanks to a girl that was reading Love Hina in the school bus, I got into manga. In my country, the only manga that were being published were Love Hina, Rayearth and Dragon Ball. But there was a lot of anime in cable tv.
I used to watch only Pokemon, Digimon, Sailor Moon, Rayearth, Dragon Ball and Sakura Card Captors because everyone watched them. But then during the winter vacation (here, July to August) I watched Saint Seiya and Yu Yu Hakusho. Soon, the mangas of those series, that since the 90's were famous here, started to be republished. Saint Seiya was... No, Saint Seiya IS my obsession. I download and buy almost everything of Saint Seiya that I can find. Yu Yu Hakusho is the best and the funniest manga that I ever read.
In 2004, there was a meet up of people from a internet forum in my city. I went and a girl of there was defending the theory that Hyoga and Shun from Saint Seiya and Kurama and Hiei from Yu Yu Hakusho were couples. I got curious and that's how I got into yaoi. First yaoi anime I watched was Sukisho and first manga I read was Color.
Then I was completely into manga. lol I used to come home running or by taxi only to watch Shaman King, Mashuranbo and BeyBlade.

Other than being a Pokémon-junkie and playing MMORPGs, I was suddenly influenced when watching the Love Hina anime adaptions with my brother when I was eight-ish (I'm surprised I don't really like ecchi or harems after that). Later on, I discovered Gundam SEED on it's second English re-run here in Canada, and I became obsessed. Since I was also fairly gullible and never knew of the horribleness at the time, I started watching 4Kids dubs in the mornings (a thing I regret)... And it sort of all went from there.

When our local mall bookstore started selling manga, he bought a few and I read them all, eventually going on to buying my own manga.

So for now I'll mostly blame my brother.

I said friend because it all started with Yu-Gi-Oh!, the anime + TCG, which most of the kids in my class at the time were into. I got some issues of SJ from the school book order, mainly for the limited edition cards, but it really didn't start off until I thought I would try reading some of the Yu-Gi-Oh! manga at our library a couple of years later. After I started to try non Yu-Gi-Oh! stuff and, well, there we go. biggrin

It all started with Sailor Moon that aired on Cartoon Network. I was like 6 or something, and got into watching anime from then, like Dragon Ball Z, Rurouni Kenshin and CCS. I discovered manga a few years later, due to a forum that gave links to download anime and then ended up liking it more than anime.

I got into manga through anime. As for anime, I'd watched it since I was a little kid, Sailor Moon being my first. When I got older I didn't like anime besides Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh since they were a part of my childhood (I barely remember Sailor Moon). Like most Americans I was close-minded towards it, and though anime was only for children. Even though I had little experience with it, I always said I didn't like it, or I hated it. Then, once when we were staying with my mothers friend, I saw two anime episodes on Colours. They were Kodocha and Fruits Basket. I looked them both up online, and found Furuba. I watched it through and was hooked. I looked up more anime, and that's how it happened!

My sister was into manga and anime in her teen years. One day when I was six or so I stayed up and she let me watch saber marionette with her- I became hooked and then came magic knight rayearth, sailor moon, nuku nuku, CCS, ruroni kenshin and their respective manga.

I was in Japanese class and wanted to listen to more Japanese. I wanted to get better at Japanese. So a friend taught me how to find anime online and it all fell apart then.
My love for Japan led to liking anime... Kind of the other way around for most people

When I was a wee little girl, I watched Sailor Moon when it was still airing on Cartoon Network (good times, good times...), and then I wanted to watch more stuff... and watching anime on TV quickly changed to on the computer. bigrazz

I started watching Naruto. It was being released too slow so I started watching subs. Then i finally read the manga on... NarutoFan. It was free so at least i didn't pay for it, but i did quickly get pissed when i found out what was going on. Then I read i"s on onemanga and kept reading more. First months were the best when it was easy to find good manga like suzuka. Now its a bit harder sad

My brother first got me interested in anime by introducing me the Slayers anime series. I was so crazy about it that I wouldn't stop watching it over and over. Everytime he would come to visit, I would ask if he had brought his anime. I wasn't interested in any other anime series. It wasn't until 6th grade, when a friend named Kirsten, introduced me to Inuyasha anime, Ghibli Films, and my first manga series, Crescent Moon. After that, I started trying out new series. My second manga series that I ever read was Fruits Basket. Ever since then, I went manga crazy. Right now I own almost 400 to 500 volumes of manga in both English and Japanese.
