I feel so pathetic... I only know English. I'm hoping that when I get older though, I will be able to learn others.

You're still 16.. You've got lots of oppurtunities to learn other languages.. But do it when you're still young, is my advice..

Thank you, but I know we're the same age. I wouldn't mind learning now, but I just have to remember to sit down and teach myself, and sometimes I get confused. I know how to speak English, but I don't know why it's spoken that way, which makes it hard for me to understand what the guide is talking about when it compares.

Oh, same here! Though I can use English perfectly (not that I'm claiming I always *do*, but I *can*) I don't know many of the grammar terms etc. beyond the basics. Some of the Japanese textbooks & learning guides I've seen are heavy on the grammar while others focus more on learning patterns etc. and use fewer technical terms - if there's a good bookstore near you, it's probably worth browsing the foreign language section a bit & finding one that's less technical. eyes

But I'm curious where are you from mugglezor ?
Cause not many people know of the antilles let alone the name of the islands

It's in my profile I think... maybe it's hiden, I don't know. I am French, live in Strasbourg, France, use to live in Piladelphia, PA, USA and before that in North Tarrytown, NY, USA.

For the Dutch antilles, well not far from them are the French one and you went to Netherland to study. It was not that hard to guess. For the dialect I should have know. So many people cross the bord between Surinam and Guyanne.

TofuQueen, it was the bookstore I got them from, and they did seem like the easiest. But maybe if I learn that stuff now, it will make other languages easier when I reach them.

Who doesn't do pig Latin? I had to study three different forms.

You want Tolkien? Take a look around.

Tupi-guarani is a mix of some south-american indian languase, by the way Paraguai uses Guarani as national languase and in Amazonia they speak a dialet originated from Tupi called Nheengatu biggrin
