Sure brings me back to reality and of the powerlessness of man... I'm living in Vancouver and we're overdue for one of these.

Well, as long as no major companies are hit it should be fine, hopefully not too many die, but as long as its not over like, 100k people its not even going to make a dent in the japanese population (Well maybe for japan's since their population is already dropping). But still though, not a significant number of people are going to die.

I deeply hope people there will get better as soon as possible!!!! It is so bad when things like this happen! I didn't read for dead people, only for missing! Let's hope for the best possible outcome!

Even if it doesn't hit any major companies, any number of people dying is significant. Even if one person dies, it will be significant to somebody. And we're talking about a huge amount of people!
I'm white, upper-middle-class, and American by birth. My life is one of the easiest on the planet, but it hurt a ton when someone close to me died (and in a relatively painless, expected manner). Multiply that by god knows how many- believe me, that is significant.

it might be possible. they did get a head start for days, though that head start was a still pretty strong earthquake(7.3), they might have been able to evacuate. lets hope for the best.

Well, I assure you that man has personally killed more people than any natural disaster ever has, or maybe they're at a tie, dunno. Earthquake vs Rambo, who will survive?

I have a friend but thankfully it hasn't affected Kyushuu, at least i hope not, i guess we'll have to see where the replicas will happen. Let's just hope that the human losses aren't big, because infrastructures can be built, but people lost are gone.
Japanese people are in my prayers i hope this disaster ends pretty soon.
Helplessness frustrates me.

Japan is a great country. I really hope the number of victims would less than 300 people.
More than 100,000 people died in last tsunami disaster (2004).

you are talking bout Tsunami in Aceh 7 years ago rite?
I agree. back then in Aceh's case only 4 hours the death toll already over 20.000
and stopped at number over than 140.000
but till now, i heard in the news that the death of this earthquake and tsunami hasnt reach 100.
I should say that the building quality between in Aceh and Japan are different =___="

Not the building quality brother, but the mentality of it's people, since japan are one of the less corrupt country in the world and Indonesia is one of the most corrupt country in the world (i know cause like you i'm an indonesian [i assume that you are from your avatar]).

Anyway BOT hopefully the number of death will not as high as Aceh's
