After i read all of the available mangas about arranged/forced marriages, i started looking for movies from this genre. I already saw "Love comes slowly" and "Magic of ordinary days", and i loved them!

Do you guys know some other movies with people who are forces into a marriage but end up happy in love with each other?

I don't know if this exactly fits, but maybe "The Proposal" They don't get closer while they are married, but the movie certainly is about marrying^^ And they don't really do it out of love^^
i loved this film and I can absolutely recommend it to you. It's a good comedy. However your examples seem to have some kind of historical flair and this one's rather modern, but look for yourself if u like it

Oh, and i love this topic. I'm very keen about this kind of story as well xD

I saw The Proposal and i really liked it It´s also about an arranged marriage so it fits

"Painted Veil" was also romantic, but sadly - it doesn´t have a happy end.

The Joy Luck Club has a subplot about arranged marriage.


And oh! I love Painted veil! It's one of my favourite movies.

Speaking of bollywood..I just remembered a British indian film I recently picked up!

Brick Lane
(It involves an arranged marriage, she already has children with him in this film but it is still a loveless marriage. The movie ends well for the married couple.

I recommend Arranged (2007).

A Jewish girl and a Muslim girl, both trying to find love by arranged marriage. I highly recommend it. It is quite accurate.

The only one I like enough to remember is The Wedding Banquet (if it counts).
Quite amusing and pretty nice.

Oh! I just read up on this the other day, it's now on my 'to watch' list.

And question to usagi_v - are you just looking for films or is tv shows okay too? Cause I know a few dramas that would match but I'm really drawing a blank at films...^^;;

[edit] I was looking through netflix and saw What Happens in Vegas and thought that maybe it would work. The money forces them to be together...it's a stretch I know.
