I'm looking for extremely high-quality slash fiction - original or fan, it doesn't matter. The writing must be of a publishable - nay, literary - standard. You know what I mean! Stunning, gorgeous wordcraft, not merely 'the telling of a story'. It ought to be as long as a novel or novella, and should take as much time to get through. In-depth characterizations, intellectual/philosophical epiphanies and a focus on plot (rather than sex) are a must. Oh, and it must all be available online. For free.

I'm especially eager to see fan fiction matching these requirements for subtexty manga/anime, like, say, xxxHolic or Banana Fish. But really, any fandom would do, as would original works.

REMEMBER. IT MUST BE NOVEL-LENGTH! I'd say at least 50,000 words - but preferably at least 100,000.

Well I think BeautifulFiction's work might be something you would enjoy. She does some Fullmetal Alchemist fanfics with mostly Roy/Ed pairings and they're written wonderfully. She always makes sure that there's a plot and that the romance might be a big part of the story but she doesn't let it take over. (She's an aspiring writer so.. ^_^) Also, quite a few of her stories a few hundred thousand words.

-also if you've read the manga or watched the anime, you can tell that she retains the personalities of the characters so its not like they're completely different people. my rant is done now.

You can try looking through The Slash Pile (I don't know if you've heard of it or been there already or not). It's a whole archive of recommended slash fics. I usually browse through their request post masterlist, which is extremely helpful.

One of my personal favourites is Muffin by Mahsa, which is complete and already onto its sequel. And also Rainbow Fish by Dirty-Angel-Toes... however, it's still incomplete hasn't been updated in two years which is unfortunate for a promising story. Don't know if they'd be your cup of tea.

Do you have any preferences? I get the idea that you like somewhat-fantasy set stories. ^^;
