Sword and Planet is a subgenre of science fantasy that features rousing adventure stories set on other planets, and usually featuring Earthmen as protagonists. The name derives from the heroes of the genre engaging their adversaries in hand to hand combat primarily with simple melee weapons such as swords, even in a setting that often has advanced technology - basically that is what I am searching for, the only thing I know similar to that is Star ocean series, no yaoi, yuri, shounen ai, shoujo ai, hentai. Thank you in advance.

Interesting...I learned something new today.

Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles comes to mind with some of the worlds they visit, though it seems you've already read that.

Dragonball somewhat, but I think it's mostly hand-to-hand combat...

1/2 Prince / 1/2 Prince (Novel) and The Moonlight Sculptor (Novel) might work, if virtual reality RPG counts as another world.

Maybe Kanata Kara, though it's not sci-fi.

Get out of my head. I was just on wikipedia's Sword and Planet page a few days ago. biggrin

Jyu Oh Sei
Planet Ladder
Outlanders has a very western pulp scifi feel. Possibly Caravan Kidd, too, by the same author, but I can't remember much of what that one's about. ^^;

To put it simply I am looking for fantasy on another planet where the protagonist is transported mysteriously, or not so mysteriously, by crashing his spaceship or by some piece of alien tech or he is an observer or some other reason, the world must be in medieval or similar setting but the remains of previously high technological civilization may exist ( non manga: Hard to Be a God by Arkady and Boris Strugatsky, The John Carter of Mars Series by Edgar Rice Burroughs)
Thanks for suggestions
oriana3k:
I was planing of watching Jyu Oh Sei because the manga is not translated
Planet Ladder - looks interesting but only one volume is scanlated
I've already read Outlanders and Caravan Kidd
Blique:
Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles - it is exactly what I am looking for because they travel try deferent dimensions of Earth
Dragonball - not really not my type but I will have it in mind
1/2 Prince / 1/2 Prince (Novel) and The Moonlight Sculptor (Novel) - I can say that the manga Yureka is in that category too It roughly fit but not exactly
If there is more suggestions I will be glad to see them.

I think Zero no Tsukaima follow this pattern (not a memorable read though), but the fights don't happen often. Also maybe The Twelve Kingdoms I think (only watched a little bit of the anime).
